I was thinking of taking a girl out to Roberto's in Hanley, it looks good, has anyone been before? what's it like etc. Is Portofino's up the road better? Or does anyone know anywhere else that is better? cheers.

Portofinos in my opinion is vastly inferior to Robertos.

It's actually rather funny, Portofino's is actually owned and ran by Portuguese and that is why the Italian dishes they serve are garbage and overpriced.
Roberto's is much better.
Still need more Italian style café's around. There is Ottavio's in Hanley and Reubens in Newcastle, apart from those and Gio's in Newcastle, then there is nowhere to go for a decent coffee.

I've been Roberto's a few times and the food is always dead hot and have to wait a few minutes for it to cool down so I don't burn my mouth off.
