According to BBC Stoke 49% Swansea 51%
According to Sky: Stoke 26% Swansea 74%
If we are to believe Sky did Swansea really dominate that much?
Or are Sky/all possession figures just complete and utter BS?

It's irrelevant.
2-0 is the only stat that matters.

Also worth noting that according to Sky ( www.skysports.com/football/match_report/0,19764,11065_3473091,00.html) that even with 26% possession we had 56% territorial advantage. So we hardly had the ball but it spent most of the time in their half. Kind of suggests that possession football is pointless if it's in your own half.

We're a 35% possession team at the best of times. I can't see how we could be anywhere near approaching 50% against Swansea.
They fannied around for most of the match, but they did have the ball while they were doing it, so I'd expect the Sky figures to be more accurate.
The 26% figure looks more like the first half figure though. We seemed to have a lot more of the ball after the break.

It's irrelevant. 2-0 is the only stat that matters. Is it irrelevant when better teams than Swansea who offer much more of a threat in the final third have twice as much possession of the football than us and beat us?

It's irrelevant regardless of the opposition, and regardless of whether we win, lose or draw. The league table contains absolutely no reference, reward or regard for possession.

I guess they count possession when you are going back towards your own goal too

Have we ever won the possession stat? A few times yes, although I think our record would be about 52% so it depends whose stats you use. I think we managed 51% against Sunderland with ten men the other week but we failed to do much with it.

Main thing is we really needed a win and we got that so that's good.
But at the same time to pretend we don't need to improve some things is daft and we do need to keep the ball better.
