guy above is talking bollocks, i thought the game was about scoring goals What you need to understand is that there are thousands of Stoke fans thinking exactly the same as the guy above. Probably not many if any less than those like you who seem to think any old shit that TP serves up is fine so long as we stay up. Well sorry given the resources put a Pulis' disposal his excuse for football just doesn't wash.

Their first season in the Prem and they ran circles around us at our own place. Our fourth season and we still can't string two passes together. As for their lack of shots. Our two goals both came from set pieces and one of those was set up by aSwansea mistake apparently. We're shite this season and i cannot possibly see how anybody could disagree with that

You don't get anything for running round in circles or for how many times you pass the ball in your own half. putting it in the onion sack that is all that matters.

Their first season in the Prem and they ran circles around us at our own place./ Run around in circles is exactly what they did. They offered no threat whatsoever and we beat them comfortably. We looked far better than we have in recent weeks but still some way from our best, and we made them look like a Championship side. Men against boys mate.

The win was all important and fully deserved. I think we pressed them high up the pitch and stopped them playing it out from the back.
Tactically got it right and delivered the goals to get what turned out in the end to be a comfortable win.
Very happy with the lads and the result. Start Jerome, Palacios and Pennnant more often and I will be ecstatic!
Anyone got a view as to what constitutes 'proper' football?

Anyone got a view as to what constitutes 'proper' football? Scoring two goals and keeping a clean sheet constitutes the very best kind of football in my book.

Swansea play some nice football but if I was a Swansea fan I'd be fuming 2-0 down and there didn't seem to be any urgency to get back into the game. Even the Swansea fans are saying they nedd to be more direct. I think we are 2 players from been somewhere in the middlr one of the is Jerome one is a midfielder that can pass

Some folks on here and many pundits (including the much venerated BBC) seem to have different ideas though. Very often they use the phrase 'getting the ball down on the ground' suggesting that crosses and headers should be outlawed. 'Little triangles' seems to be a much used phrase too and the term 'set piece goal' is seen to be inferior to a 'goal from open play'. Gotta larrfff ;-)

If they were as good at their so called brand of football as we were at ours they would have won. Fact is they just pass it, no real flair, no beating men, no inch perfect through balls. On top of that they have no players over 3' 10" so if they can't keep the ball on the floor they have no chance funny how our goals came from set pieces they were sitting ducks, we were poor today because if we really were on our game that should have been 5 or 6. I have never seen two teams such a mismatch as today. Today wasn't a game we should be judging Pulis over the season on, if ever there is a day to play Pulis ball it was today.

Whilst I am loathe to admit it, over the years, Manure have to lay claim to playing the perfect style of football.
They can play and take on any approach you want, adopt almost any style and approach themselves and they can win when playing badly almost as often as they win when playing well.
Football isn't a game of perfect. There is no right or wrong way and my point was that passing for passing sake is equally as boring as our own SOMETIMES (unfortunately often this season) turgid sytle of directness.
Swanseas way, which saw their keeper seemingly refusing to take a normal goalkick is equally as wrong, their manager equally as stubborn and their team equally as shit as our direct approach to games.

To be fair to Swansea, they are currently in quite a comfortable position in the table and about 95% guaranteed to be playing in the Premier League next season. On top of that, they have currently scored two goals more than we have, conceded four less and did actually beat us at their place. Furthermore, they have spent a mere fraction of what we've lavished on free transfers in recent years. Of course, some of their play involved passing for passing's sake and they did indeed play themselves into trouble on more than one occasion. Mind you, we can hardly claim that our hoofs down the field don't occasionally set up gift goals for our opponents. As for someone saying they didn't feel threatened once today, well, if Sinclair had buried that free shot at goal in the first three minutes we might have seen a different game? And Begovic did pull off a world class save at the end! We were too strong for them today but I still tip my hat to Swansea for what they have managed to do since being promoted. It takes all styles to make up the Premier League. I think that's a very fair comment.

You forgot to mention that they were boring with no end product to little if any of their attacks and played suicidal goal kicks losing the ball on countless occasions which our lads would have been strung up by our fans had they tried such nonsense. The arrogance of Swansea in those situations in particular was amazing and they simply didnt have the personel to pull it off.

Swansea are going to stay up which is a big achievement for them, doesnt matter how they do it. However, i would be amazed if they are still here beyond next season
