I can't see the FA letting us off. Unless it's against one of the rules/regulations for a 4th official to make the decision over the referee's head?? I think that this should be a major part of the appeal. and the outcome needs to clarify the role of all officials. Yes they are there to help each other but the referee is the one whose decision is final! It's not as if the referee hadn't made his mind up straightaway! He immediately awarded a THROW IN to Stoke - no free kick, no yellow card let alone a red one! He didn't feel the need to consult the official on the line , let alone the 4th official. The official on the line also gave a throw in to Crawley. PS Jey just re-read your post, Jones gave a throw to CRAWLEY.

Hope he gets a extra game. Not cause he deserves it, simply because were a better team without him, as shown again yesterday. No need to say this but it is a worry if we are better without an extra man

Think Rory has had a terrible season so far, so maybe this is a blessing in disguise!

Thanks for that my mistake! still fuming that the 4th official overruled the ref!!

Pointless exercise and anyway it escapes me why he made the tackle anyway Err call me old fashioned but perhaps he was trying to win the ball.

He won the ball, it was a bloody good tackle but we're pissing in the wind with this appeal.

He won the ball, it was a bloody good tackle but we're pissing in the wind with this appeal. The ref will say he was on the wrong side of the incident but from his angle it looked ok. The fourth official will say he had an excellent view from just 5/6 yards & while the tackle didn't cause serious damage, it was reckless in his opinion. Even though the video footage shows what it does, the fourth official will argue the 'reckless' clause & the original decision will be upheld to ensure the officials are not undermined

A red is 'excessive force'. Make your mind up as to what Rory's tackle was, because in my mind it was neither of those two.

Gareth Southgate, the FA's technical director, when commenting post match on ESPN said 'it's one we should appeal and get rescinded' so that's fooked it then, the FA's left and right hand don't know what's going on I thought he said we were likely to appeal it but wouldn't get it rescinded but then I am a bit mutton. What? I think Southgate meant to say we should appeal and that we would get it rescinded but I think he stumbled over his words and it came out differently to how he intended. I played his words back a few times and I'm pretty certain that's what he meant.

Hunt will probably turn up at the appeal on crutches with photographs of the 4-inch gash and/or the x-rays of his broken foot (whichever will have the most effect)........oh, and a box of tissues, of course HUNT = MEYLER = F*CKIN' CHEAT(S)

I think my days of paying to watch a game of football, are rapidly coming to a close. If the contact is being taken out of a contact sport, it's not a game I want to watch. Think I'll take watching ballet on BBC 2, at least I'll know I'm watching fairies!
