So I'm looking to get into a trade as an apprentice but I don't even know where to start, I've tried google searches and job websites but to no avail, and I'm unsure which sector has the best prospects. Can anyone help?

IF you got good grades at school, try to get an apprentiship (5 attempts at spelling, soz) at Rolls Royce in Cheshire.Skint for 5 years but then highly trained , highly qualified and highly sort after yourself. Better than a degree mate.Or ill get you on with me at Mcdonalds

I'm 21 just left Uni after 2 years of a 4 year course because basically its not worth the debt and the miserable existence that I had, looking to get into a trade.

If your serious about a trade, then get the Yellow Pages and call people up stating how determined you are to break into the industry, I did the exact same thing years ago. Im no longer on the tools, but i can promise you that the Plumbing/Gas Fitting industry is not the best route to take. What people fail to realise is, all the plumbers that were working on new build sites are chasing the domestic market and driving the price down.

Mmmm......I'd try treading the boards as a Stand-up comedian in Leek & Cheddleton as there is an obvious shortage round these parts....infact, '' they're not all there , there's something missing !''.

Joiners are the best, that's what I am. The most skilled and creative out the lot plus you can't get bored with joinery as the range of work is massive..
Also I'm fucking brilliant at it (who said we're big headed?)

Also I'm fucking brilliant at it (who said we're big headed?) My mate did a long apprenticeship in joinery and now he's on JCB because he couldn't get a job anywhere.

Try George S Hall at Festival Park, building maintenance, mechanical and electrical maintenance, they have a good apprenticeship scheme where you do a cross section, and then you can go into specialist areas, boilers, electrics, Air conditioning, controls etc. or do them all.

Work in the public sector and do fuck all and post on here all day......Like most of the Left wing lot on here Joking apart that's probably the best advice you have on this thread so far. Stress free, unsackable, and most of all you still get a final salary pension which will mean nothing to you now but will be worth more than your house and everything you own come your retirement.
