I know it's been mentioned after previous Europa games but is it not time we kept the larger pitch? Valencia are the best passing and possession team to come to the Brit this season but they certainly didn't keep possession for fun or play us off the park. I thought the wider pitch was more to our advantage with two wingers and it certainly was when Jerome was introduced and he used his pace to get in behind their defence in the channels. At home, bin the long throw, play Jerome and KJ/Fuller up front with two wingers and keep the bigger pitch.

No. It would suit other teams coming to the Britannia far more than us.

I always thought "Wide Players" = "Wide Pitch" shirley that goes hand in hand?? Our wingers dont have enough room as it is (usually as they are on the feckin bench) but last night we witnessed quite a few crosses coming in from the wings, albeit shite ones....now is that a coincidence we had a wider pitch?????

Our wingers dont have enough room as it is What are you basing that statement on? I've never watched a game at the Britannia and thought 'this pitch really isn't big enough for us'.

We do play well when we make good use of our wingers and they are performing well. This width to the team looked great at Wembley In general our team has very good levels of fitness and several fast players. As for the slower ones, Delap and Woodgate in particular - they may not fit in to these plans. I don't think that there is a rule that says you can't change the pitch size once the season has started is there? What's more why dont we adopt a one size fits all approach?

We have definitely outgrown it now. Lets be honest, it was for the throw-ins and they are shit now so I think it's time we made it bigger. As long as we are playing with both wingers!

Pitch size is registered with Premier League (or FA?) at start of season and has to stay same for domestic competitions.

Every time that our wingers get the ball and are immediately surrounded by three opposition players who charge out from midfield...if our man is a few meters out toward the sideline...he will have a few more seconds to get going before they close him down...

We did it for the Chelsea cup game and then retained the narrower pitch for the rest of the season. Are the rules in the Championship and Premiership different?

I think that's a bit of an exaggeration.. Do you really think the benefits of our wingers getting an extra second or two would outweigh the fact that more expansive passing teams (nearly every other team in the league) would also get more time and space on the ball?

or the newcastle game when the wingers were well marked and we had nothing else offer.

On the basis that every corner seemingly failed to beat the first man, have you ever thought that the narrow pitch for league games is because our two lightweight wingers can't kick the ball far enough to reach the middle of the goal from the widened pitch? Just a thought like!

Although the pitch size is registered with the PL before the start of the season it can be altered with their written consent.
