Not good management to persist with a player who is out of form. Demotivates other players and doesn't help the player himself.
Touch was awful tonight. Another of Tony's favourites though. The only way he won't play is to get injured - same as Mama in the first season.

Walters dropped into midfield when they had the ball and chased them down, none of our other strikers can perform this role well. Don't forget we were playing a team that probably would win the Premier league..... so I'm not sure what you expected tonight.

Anyone want to give odds on him playing out wide on Sunday?

Those pictures Cresswell passed on to him are proving very useful for our John

Ha ha ha ha Get real, 6th or 7th at best, they showed how good they are when they were spanked 3-0 at Chelsea this season, who by the way are due to finish 5th-6th Win the premier league my arse!!

Currently third in La Liga, which is a better league than ours at present. They'd be top 3 in ours for sure. They didn't really move out of first gear tonight and also rested their best player.

Third in La Liga and a full 18 points off the top place, even 8 points from second. I agree they didnt get out of first gear, but get real, they are miles off being premier league champion quality!!!

So that's 8 points of Barcelona. The team that dicked all over Man U at Wembley. Agree SJW's recent form has been bad and Jerome should be starting ahead of him but tonight I thought he played well. What exactly did everyone see him do that was so bad? He was better than Crouch.

I don't agree, one game against Chelsea means nothing, on that basis, Everton are better than Chelsea.. They defended really well, had a fantastic goalkeeper, and when they got into the final third, got in behind us a few times. I think that they'd beat most teams in the Prem in a league format, they're probably the best team we've seen down there this season anyway (other than maybe Newcastle who were fantastic the day they played us).

4 good months in 18. Sorry, that's the truth.
Work horse who has had a good spell last season and totally overworked by the manager.

Was he though? I'm not bothered about price tags, I'm bothered about performances and while Crouch wasn't great he at least was giving them someone to mark and I'd have backed him to score had we realised that you need to create chances to do that. Walters has been awful for ages and we keep asking him to churn out 90 minutes which he willingly does. The thing is though he doesn't remotely look like scoring and hasn't for a while. Time to let Ric or Jerome start with Crouch as it can't possibly be any worse and if it is then Jones will have to replace the lanky one.

I thought Walters played well tonight. What exactly did he do wrong? I expect more from Crouch because we paid 10 million for him and we're paying him twice as much as SJW.

I have noticed with Walters he never tries to head the ball, always keeps his head out of the way! There was a throw in from Shotton straight to his head on the edge of the six yard box. Somehow, with no close marker he contrived to miss the ball! And he calls himself a forward???? This guy is a big part of our problem at the moment. He's even shit defensively, he just clatters into opposition players Pennant is far better defensively.

He ran a lot but he didn't PLAY well. His game was summed up just after Wilko had bust a gut to win the ball and he couldn't even keep it in play. He offered nothing going forward and was (I think) at fault for the goal.

If Fuller is fit I'd start him every game. If he gets tired after 60 mins then consider taking him off.
Jerome has earned a crack too, arguably.
Crouch needs benching and Walters could use a rest.
Kenny, I like him but he's not impressed of late but to be fair he's often been played deep.
When's Mama ready...?

In order to stop it Walters would have had to run back... which as you say is just 'running around' and not part of actually 'playing'. I think some people are just pissed off with Walters because Pulis starts him every game and his form of late has been poor but tonight he played more like he used to last season. To say he is out of his depth is superfluous... we are playing Valencia FFS so we're all out of our depth.

Walters is shite!! It's no coincidence that he's sPent his whole career as a lower league journeyman. No skill, Pace or class!! Can't lace stein or fullers boots!!

No he can't lace Stein or Fuller's boots. Who can? But he's not shit, and the fact he's played much of his career as a lower league player probably says a lot about his desire to better himself. I don't know if he's tired or not, but he's another among many players that are now being criticised for simply being played when they perhaps need time away from the spotlight of the first team to re-discover their form. There's no excuse for continually playing Walters when we have Jerome and Fuller who could step right in and do better.

I said this after the Fulham game. I don't even mind Walters, in fact I think he's decent but Pulis' insistance on playing him in every single minute of every single game is just downright baffling, bordering on absolute neglect of his managerial duties. It must be fucking hard being Jerome/Fuller/Jones knowing that no matter how shit Walters plays and how much of an impression you make as a sub, you're still not going to start a game. And even if you do, Walters is still on the pitch somewhere. Probably at left back.

Tonight I thought his hold up play was reasonable, won his fair share of headers, didn't give passes away and his work rate was phenomenal. I felt we gave a good account of ourselves tonight but were outclassed by a brilliant side. Come on here and most people seem to think we've played shite.
