I think you're right there Kev. Nearly everybody I know has bought a ticket off the servaixa site and none of them have posted on the message board to say they've bought one. I genuinely believe that if the club had canvassed the supporter base before travelling to Valencia, to ensure we received a proper allocation that would have been distributed through official channels, then we could quite easily have taken 6,000+ out there. I think your estimate of 6,000 may not be too far away, Paul. In fairness to the club they were offered 2,300 or 9,000 - take it or leave it. Realistically we were never going to take that many. In truth though if Stoke took 9000 tickets & failed to sell 3000 then the lost revenue (not profit) at £13 a ticket would be £39,000 1. More Stokies may well have gone given greater certainty about tickets 2. The above figure is perhaps 5 days pay for one of our senior players 3. The whole experience for the players, fans & the city would have been much more memorable had all the fans been grouped together 4. Stoke would have been seen to have put the fans, who it repeatedly states are the all important 12th man, at the heart of it's European experience A big missed opportunity that has caused more moans & groans than praise for the club !!

Some valid points there, mate. I suppose the issue is that there's no guarantee we would take 6,000 and that's the gamble. Had we only took say 4,000 (which could still be not far off the final figure) the club would have stood to lose £65,000 which while small fry in football terms, is still a considerable sum of money. Tough one to call really, the club haven't come out of this smelling of roses (given the "Scholes Air" fiasco) but the club is still a business when all said and done.

Where are the other tickets [not from the club] available? I've seen stuff about this Servicaixa site but can't see anything on there.
I'm sure there's a thread answering this question but it's lost within the "Pulis is wank", "We've never been this bad" and "We're all gonna die" threads that have swamped the board in the last day or two.
Cheers.

Where did this 9,000 figure come from? Has that actually been confirmed that we were offered that as an alternative?

Spoke to Copper BTP on way to Fulham yesterday. He said 6,000 travelling. No suggestion as to what he based it on but know doubt they have their various sources. My estimate of 5,000 plus weeks ago looks about right then, Potterlog...

My estimate of 5,000 plus weeks ago looks about right then, Potterlog... In fairness, I did always say that nobody really knows until the tickets go on sale, but yes, fair play, it looks like I was under with my initial estimations. I still think 5 or 6k is overcooking it though. To me it looks like 3.5 - 4, but then plenty more could still go on the servicaixa site (I still haven't got mine yet ). Either way, I'm glad I was wrong!

Just to update, I was in the final group of people that got their ticket today. Stood in the freezing cold for 2 hours but well worth it!
Guy doing the organising told us there were 100 tickets if that left after today. Didn't give us any idea how these were going to be sold.

I know I'm a bit thick but I'm struggling with the maths on this one. It seems there were around 300 people who queued up yesterday (going by the voucher numbers of people on here who said they were last in the queue). If each person got the maximum of 4 tickets (which is wrong as I met people who were only getting singles) but say they did, then that is a maximum of 1,200 sold yesterday. If the maximum number of plat+ members took their allocation, ie 500, that makes 1,700 and then the 350 or so on Scholes Tours, that's 2,050 maximum. It's likely to be much lower than that though because not all Plat+ would buy and not all the 300 there yesterday were getting 4 tickets each.
What I'm getting at is where have the other 250+ (possibly as many as 500) tickets gone? Players? Staff? Corporates? I thought these were extra allocations anyway. Anyone know? I think we should be told.

But even then, like you say not everyone would have bought 4 tickets each yesterday, so that should leave a few unaccounted for.
