It's been unbelievable. Wouldn't have changed the 5 experiences I've had abroad this past 6 months following Stoke for anything.

its hurt us yes, but its still a great privilege to play in and 17th the knockouts against Valencia and an fa cup semi final would be a monumental achievement
and our best season in the prem to date.
im extremely proud of stoke and pulis, and anyone calling for his head or even saying we cant get to the next level need a crack across the ear.

What Salford says.
Europa League has been the only enjoyable part about this season because our league performances, even in victory, have been average to say the least.
I wouldn't swap my 5 trips abroad for anything. It has been worth every penny.
Fuck the league. The cups are all that matter for us.

Yes without a doubt we look as though we have played too many games, let's hope for two more cracking games and an honourable but quick exit.

I dont get people who think we should scrap the cups as its too may games, although I know the OP didn't say this was his view, because what are we playing for if its not to get into europe?
We've got into Europe for the first time in 40 years after reaching our first FA Cup final in our 149 year history so why not make the most of it and try and win it. Same with the FA Cup, give it our best and if we lose a few more league games so what. We're not going to get relegated and if we do continue in this bad run of form then cup wins could well help us turn a corner and keep confidence and interest up as the season draws to a close.
In summary what benefit do we get from purposely losing in the cups to concentrate on a league we have 0% chance of winning or finishing in the top 6 or 7 in.

What is the point of us getting out of bed if not for the cups? We cant win the league, I even doubt if we can finish in a Europa League place again by position alone. We just need to finish respectably in the PL, that is the limit of our ambition 8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16 frankly it doesnt matter which you choose. Get used to it this is success for a mediocre mid sized club.
So my answer good of course, you will look back on these trips with fondness when we are back in a lower league.

It's good. It's brilliant. Yes, it's messed us up (see the week where we played Monday, Thursday, Sunday and lost the first game 3-1 and the last game 5-0), but who cares? It's a once in a lifetime thing and we should be going all out to get as far as we can in it.

Its good & bad to be fair, it's great going away to these places playing the likes of Valencia but you could say it isn't helping our league form but then again I wouldn't change anything!
It's bloody brill!

Its brill and long may it continue, whilst im not very confident of us beating Valencia over 2 legs, but can you imagine the party over there with 4 or 5 thousand Stokies on the piss if we should win it will be an incredible night and we would fear no one after that, lets live the dream.

It's is great. It's raised the profile of the club, made us a more attractive side in the transfer market and earned some extra revenue in the meantime. I think that our tenure in the Premiership is secure, although our attempts for a higher finish have suffered ( and a bit of revenue lost admittedly) There have been excellent crowds at most home and away games.
Can't wait for our game v Valencia

Absolutely it's a good thing.
I'm not sure how much it's negatively affected us though.
We've been absolutely awful for weeks and we haven't even played a Europa game for, erm ... weeks.

Good.
Although we may not be performing too well in the league - we are in no worse of a position than we were this time last season. Therefore the Europa League (so far) has had little effect on the club's league status (except for shocking goal difference!)
This is a 'unique' season for the club (although I would hope that we can qualify every 5 years or so) and I would take a 17th place finish - if it meant actually winning some silverware.
Do you remember who finished 8-17th 3 years ago - I don't, but winning a trophy would always be remembered.
Now I'm not saying that we will win the EL, or that the only way to win it is to finish 17th, but I am saying - why not embrace it? How can it be bad?
I believe that PC's plan is to win some silverware, whether it be Carling Cup/FA Cup/Europa League at some point in the near future, whilst maintaining our PL status.
I am certain however, that if we were struggling in the league - the cups would be put on the back burner, as PL status is the most important thing.

It's great.
(it is a mickey mouse european competition though, a similar status to the league cup in england I guess)

A lack of passion for every game is what has hurt us this season. Complacency has set in too much. This applies to both the team and the fans.
