Certainly not mind blowing stats, but nevertheless they highlight just how unbalanced and devoid of invention we look when both Pennant and Etherington don't start games.
League games in which both Pennant and Etherington have started this season: 10/24
Number of defeats in those 10 games: 2/10
League games in which Pennant or Etherington or neither have started this season: 14/24
Number of defeats in those 14 games: 8/14

Our whole philosophy is based on wingers. We have two at the club. The form of both is patchy. If one or both are out, it makes no odds to Pulis' approach. I appreciate the man has crunched a lot of stats and knows the likely percentage plays, but all those stats will be predicated on the fact that players are played in the correct positions.

I hear that Ben Marshall at Leicester is a good winger....go get him Tone....oh wait..... A 3rd Division player? Three wet-behind-the-ears '3rd Division' wingers from last season featured in the Prem yesterday - Bennett and Pilkington for Norwich - as well as Chamberlain. Not to mention the young lad who'd made 60-odd appearances in the League of Ireland who cost us the points! Seamus Coleman woukld have started for Everton if fit, too after about 50 games for the Dog&Duck in Ireland. And, in Pulis terms, he was half as experienced as Marshall when Moyes asked him to sink or swim.

For all the good stuff Pulis does he is the original dinosaur at times.
