The man is a bloody liability

De Gea is only young and will be a great keeper one day. Casillas had plenty of dodgy moments early on in his career, you've got to accept young players are going to make mistakes. De Gea needs to be playing at the highest level regularly to reach his potential.

De Gea a liability for them, but will we put him under any pressure?

It depends on how the ref sees it, De Gea looks marginly wider than the goal post, so any slight nudge by Huth, Shawcross, Jerome, Walters and co will get pulled.

superjonny, just out of interest..do you have ANY evidence at all to justify using the name Casillas in the same sentence as De Gea?????
yes, every youngster makes mistakes, it;s just that every now and again they do get somethings right...this is the bit of his game that De Gea seems to be missing.he is absolutely shocking when it comes to ANYONE challenging him, has no authority over his back four and his indecision is ridiculously bad.i can't see him having any kind of future apart from at some foreign second division side...in short he is awful and if he plays then he is also our best chance at getting something out of the game

The one bloody good game he's had this season, unfortunately for us, was at the Brit!!
I wouldn't be surprised though if Anders Lindegaard didn't start tomorrow.

Some of the natural and well-coached basics just aren't always there, such as positioning, being correctly set with shots on goal and his inability (indecision) to deal with crosses is certainly worrying for anyone who coaches him and questions have to be asked.

i can't see ferguson playing him against us.we are precisley the type of team to hammer him.if we get near their penalty area that is.

Why the fuss? He only has to grow another three inches or so.

De Gea needs to be playing at the highest level regularly to reach his potential. No chance. Doesn't have the constitution for it, it's there for all to see. His whole career he will be capable of pulling off world-class point blank saves but will always be susceptible to clangers, fumbles and flaps. Not good enough. He is at the absolute peak of his career, it's all downhill from here I'm afraid. Sralex called this one badly wrong.

Doubt fergie will risk him against us tomorrow, even though it would be his quietest game so far this season ;D

If he's 6' 4" then I'm an astronaut or he stands in a trench when preparing for corners.

Casillas was just an example of a Spanish wonderkid keeper who didn't start off all that well, you can include Valdez in there as well. Fergie isn't stupid and I fully expect De Gea to come good at some stage in the next year or two and justify his price tag.

He made a massive error with Jaap Stam and admitted so, "in playing terms it was a mistake"Fabian Bartez is 6ft tall, not doing too bad as a keeper.

not his height but its his skinnyness thats the problem. If he doesnt bulk up pronto then he will never make it in the Prem.

A keeper either has to be big and physically imposing or supremely agile.
De Gea is neither- he looks like a malnourished teenager in some kind of drop-in centre.
Fergie's always had a blind-spot when it comes to goalies. God knows how much he's wasted on crap ones over the years.
