Anyone remember Gus from the Vic? The guy selling lottery tickets?
Anyone know what happened to him?

passed away I believe, you just felt as though you had to buy a ticket off him didn't you......... he would just stand in front of you and not let you pass on the way into the Boothen End after leaving the supporters club. Gentle Giant is the way I remember him.

Such a clear memory of childhood - took me ages to work out what he was saying as he worked his way around the Butler St Paddock.

I couldn't tell if it was him from the film but Butler St Stand next to the Boothen was one of his haunts..so some circumstantial evidence I suppose.

I Remember a Gus who used to sell the snacks in front of the Boothen End about 1977, is it the same Gus?

Wow, just brought back a childhood memory. Big west Indian bloke, leather peaked hat, bit of a limp, old donkey jacket. Me Dad was a steward back in the 70's early 80's and we used to speak to this bloke every home game. Think he was the first black chap I had ever seen and I was fascinated by him!!!!

Went on to star in 'The Green Mile' didn't he? Hadn't thought about Gus in years, a real blast from the past this thread.

What a great post. I'd forgotten all about him, and was a part of the old Vic. Can anybody remember what he used to shout? All I can recall was it sounding gibberish.
