Hitchcock's films take some beating.
Some of these modern filmakers would be lost without special effects.

''Salems Lot'' with David Soul... I 100% agree with that one. Mr Barlow takes some beating for scariness.

It's all in the mind for me - don't need special effects, just to make me think that something is there is enough! Paranormal activity did for me and I'm the only person on the world who was scared by Blair Witch!
Also - I loved "the descent", scared the shit right of me that did!
edit - the first poltergeist is still unwatchable to this day. I just see a hat like that old bloke wears and I'm gone!

The Grudge. Creep. Thirty days of night. The ring. Let the right one in. The exorcist. The descent. Blair witch project. Texas chainsaw massacre. Rec. ...
However no other genre produces so many poor and disappointing films.

The Swedish original of 'Let the Right One In' is a wonderful film of an even better book.

Rec and Rec 2 are pretty jumpy films. My girlfriend fell out with me for making her watch them both.

The Swedish original of 'Let the Right One In' is a wonderful film of an even better book. So true. Read the book twice in a week. Excellent.

''Salems Lot'' with David Soul...or this... Well said that man! I absolutely love that film and would gladly watch the 3+hrs of it on a daily basis. I thought the strangers and all the paranormal activity films were complete shite an about as scary as a marshmallow. The ring was an excellent film, and nightmare on elm street is still one of the creepiest films I have ever seen. I would also recommend Drag Me To Hell, which isn't that scary but is a brilliant film from Sam Raimi, one to watch especially if you liked evil dead. The others is a very good film with some excellent frights in it and amazingly the exorcist 3 is actually a very good film, not to be confused with the exorcist 2 which was a shockingly bad film.

The remake is out in February. Harry Potter in lead role. Trailer looked promising. Also very long running play in the west end which has only 2 speaking actors in it and the woman. Only play been to that shits you up. Seen it twice and can recommend it!
