I didn't think he was too bad. Some nice passes, at least some of them forward. But he lost the ball in some dangerous areas.

I still think he has a touch of quality about him.....he's still rusty (and somewhat unfit IMO) and that rustiness could have cost us dearly, giving the ball away as he did on a couple of occasions

Terrible. I was expecting much, much better. Seemed to lose the ball easily and his tackling was as weak as piss.

Personally I'm reserving judgment until next season. He still needs to get his head on straight and get his match sharpness back. There is a good player in there.

Bit of a harsh game to judge him or any other player on. We rarely tried to leave our own half, and it's not like he had any options when he had the ball.

quite a few tonight looked rust and need games , Jones Jerome Palacios just hard to see how they get them sharp, no doubt 90 mins will have done him good but we were so bad hard to judge anyone's performance .
One thing for sure we need to get players in the team who can pass a ball and he is one but ned a few more

Can't really judge him on this game, but he showed a couple of nice touches here and there and a decent ball for shotts to run on to, still looks like he needs a few more games to get up to pace.

Caught too often tonight but I am sure he will come good if TP can sharpen him up and get him match fit. His passing is the best of any of our midfielders and he doesn't panic in possession. Heres hoping anyway because we desperately need more quality in central midfield.

This thread is proof positive that some of our fans wouldn't recognise a quality footballer if their lives depended on it.

The first 10 minutes he looked good. Very composed on the ball with some lovely quick and simple passes. After that it went quickly downhill. He gifted the ball away and Johnson immediately hit the bar and he gifted the ball away seconds before Aguero scored the third. He did still show more on the ball than any of our other midfielders but Pulis will not be happy with either of those.
His fitness was better but still looks incredibly slow and he rarely won the ball all night. It's early days and hopefully the rustyness will soon wear off but if he keeps giving the ball away stupidly in dangerous areas i can't see TP trusting him.
Add in Whitehead's stupid ball to Walters for their secong goal and i'd imagine TP will be furious. We got it all wrong tonight. When we should have been attempting passes and dribbles in midfield we passsed it back to Sorensen to punt and when we should have been punting we were fucking about with it just outside the box. A bad day at the office all round.

This thread is proof positive that some of our fans wouldn't recognise a quality footballer if their lives depended on it. Therein lies the problem. How do we get an unfit quality player up to being a fit quality player? Do we risk him in the next 2 games from the off? Does he play alternate games? Do we leave him for games that we aren't too bothered about? Do we write off this season and get him ready for the next? Thoughts????

You get crabbier and more condescending by the day Dave. ;D He may be a quality footballer and i'm one of his biggest fans but if you think that was a quality footballer on show tonight you're sadly mistaken. A few very nice stand out touches and passes along with some really stupid decision making in the wrong areas. One cost us a goal and we were lucky to not concede another couple straight after he tried to dribble round players just outside the box when simple passes were on.

He is a quality player and I trust TP's judgement.
I don't think we will see him shine until next season, then people will be saying what a visionary Pulis is. Again.

Here we go, judging players on 90 minutes against by far the best team in the league.
Only person who wanted to keep hold of possession in red and white.

Too early to comment on considering how little he's played in the last 18 months. You can see some quality there, but he made some bad mistakes, hopefully they can be put down to lack of games or fitness.

I think he needs to start against Villa.....then guage his performance and see how he 'pulls up' before committing to the Wigan game.....surely that makes sense!!??

Well that's certainly the biggest question mark but he's got to be a better option than Diao assuming Delap or Whelan are still injured. Things aren't going to get any better if he only plays the last 20mins (Pulis rarely makes changes early at home). He needs to start from the off so he can help dictate the game and get settle into the tempo. I've noticed on a couple of occasions when he has come on as a sub he struggles to adapt to the tempo and that's why he hasn't looked that impressive.

Just back from the game
If Delap and or Whelan had put in the same performance as Palacios tonight there would be hell to pay!! At total fault for the 3d goal - when have you seen a stoke midfielder give the ball away like that in our final third in the last 3 seasons. Reputation, technical ability and past success count for nothing - current performance is the only thing he can be judged on - on that basis he is simply not good enough (neither are Upson and Woodgate) and not as good as other options we have available!
