Thanks for all of the post today Dave. Really kept us in the loop not just today, but throughout this window. Thanks pal...... What exactly has happened this window that Dave should have kept us up to date with? Because i can't see anything thats happened, therefore, what did you want. An update about nothing??

Etherington would be a big miss but we have played relatively successfully in recent weeks with 1 winger on, we have Walters, Jerome and Delap for cover in that position their. Yes that is not their natural position but they have previously done a job their. Anything is possible in football. We've not been doing 'top 10' well with one winger though. And we don't know what's going to happen with Pennant for all that. None of those players are a patch on Etherington out wide and we struggle to create chances as it is... Lets see how perform without Etherington tonight, yes this may not be the best game to judge players, but you must think that we have named a strong line-up in his absents?

If we were to do business I would of hoped that we would have the sense to do it before deadline day Stoke Neva make a move before transfer deadline day Yes but we never normally have a match on deadline day ... ... the sensible option, if we were looking to make signings, would have been to have done it before tonight. But then again we aren't sensible

But then again we aren't sensible then again, perhaps their are no suitable signings to make.

Was never gonna happen was it with regards to signings.
Now we have let Higgy go who is bloody decent to have on the bench and not replaced him. Im guessing the Stoke management know what they are doing but they are bloody frustrating when it comes to dealings.
I like the squad we have for sure but Im disappointed because you always like to see your team being active in the transfer market, especially when there are some areas that need to be addressed yet they have been ignored.
Id have loved to have seen Dorsett back at the Brit saying we are being busy yet we are not and from a fans point of view thats a bit of a let down.
Watching QPR sign everyone with a pulse and paying over the odds for players I agree is a bit stupid but at least they are showing the ambition to improve their squad.
Im not saying Stoke havent however, the signings of Crouch and Palacios last summer really was a signal of intent but I wont hide the fact that Im not a little annoyed that we havent bought anyone in to really push the club onwards and maybe get that top ten finish and obviously cover areas in the squad that will suffer with injuries and fatigue due to our hectic schedule.
Letting Higgy go without a replacement in that instance is somewhat baffling to me as no other clubs let players go unless they have replacements lined up.

We've seen tonight just what we get with Etherington out of the side.
We NEED a winger.

I think we have let Higgy go to get some game sunder his belt and regain his sharpness, he was only going to go backwards in our reserves so a good chance for him to get match fit again and be ready for the close season. I don't think in his current state he was anywhere fit or capable to stand in for us if required.

Due to the inept teams that are Blackburn, Wolves and Wigan I'm sure we'll be OK but I have to say I can't see us finishing top 10 this season as we've been worked out and our points haul will dwindle as the season reaches its climax.
Next season we need players who can have a pre season and be ready from the start and we need to change our tactics and bring in some personal. I'm not saying carpet football just keep it better. To do that the likes of Whitehead cannot start PL games.
The thing that worries me is that come the next window everyteam will be on the same playing field and rather than 8th placed European Stoke we'll be back to being unglamouras Stoke who play long ball and are awful to watch. All this talk of waiting to the summer is great but it isn't going to be any easier getting players in then with big spenders like Sunderland, Villa, Newcastle, QPR, Fulham, West Ham spending money like it's confetti. And lets face it London is a better pull than Stoke. I think we may have missed a trump card in this window not picking up some of the cream from the Championship and some of the players who's contract runs out in the summer.
