Surely Garth Crooks earns enough to buy a shirt that's big enough for his gut? It's quite funny to see him trying to pontificate as usual while busting out quite embarrassingly around the midriff.

Reminds me of a Jimmy Carr joke "a woman came up to me in the bar after a gig,she was quite large and was offended about something I said about fat people...."You're fatist she said" "No I'm not ",i replied,"you are!"

Loved him as a Stokie, don't think he is a natural on TV, you feel the people around him don't like his style.

I think it's quite funny when he ties himself in knots and makes an even bigger balls up of trying to dig his way out. He usually just digs himself deeper into the mire.

He can't even get Wrights Pies or oatcakes where he lives, so what diet is he on? Seafood (and eat it)

I noticed how Gabby kept avoiding asking him questions so Martin bought him into play. He made a total arse of it and they had to cut away to the Celtic game.
One has to respect Ian Wrights comments about his time on the BBC about being the token!

Could have been a Stoke legend, but he soon forgot his roots.

Why do some have such a problem with him? I know all the old fellas, like me dad, who stood around us in the paddock all felt betrayed when he left ... comments he made or whatever. Garth was always a bit of an odd lad ... from what I remember ... And he is, you have to say, generally a bit of a tvvat on the telly.

Why is he a twat?? I don't get that at all. Now ... he just comes across as false. Anbd like someone else said above, as though he knows everyone else around him can't stand him. The daft accent - lessons that haven't worked - some of his opinions ... pink shirts ... he's just a bit odd, is garth ... ('course, might be me ...)

Daft accent lessons? Do you mean his accent changing becaause he's sort of like, er, lived in London for over 30 years?

Daft accent lessons? Do you mean his accent changing becaause he's sort of like, er, lived in London for over 30 years? Nah. He would have had lessons when they started asking him to do telly. I don't think he's quite so stilted in real life. He's also a bit panto, when on telly ... a bit like a pantomine dame ... far too ott. I loved him when I was a little lad, he was my big stoke hero. But he was a million times better as a footballer than a tv presenter (and, I also have seen Wrighty's comments, mentioned above, on being the token-guy ...)

Well I've seen this stuff for yonks and I've never grasped what the problem is. Each time I ask the question it becomes less clear what the problem is.

Some people are good on the telly and some aren't. Hancock is a stokie and is good on the telly. I always feel like everyone - including Garth - knows Garth isn't. But, to be fair, Hancock was probably sh1t at football ... Telly, it's all about opinions, eh?

Could have been a Stoke legend, but he soon forgot his roots. Garth is a Stoke legend imo. Local lad done good. Excellent scoring record of a goal every 3 games throughout his career. Won 2 FA Cup and 1 EUFA Cup Winners medals. Became first black chairman of PFA and awarded OBE for services to football. Just because occasionally makes a cock of himself, trying to speak posh, does't mean he has forgotten his roots.
