His range of passing consists of giving it to the player closest to him. So frustrating in a counter attacking situation.

I thought Diao had a decent game for us, he managed more forward passes than I have seen him make in any game he's played for us since his return. He also played a very nice cross and a long outside of the foot pass that found the target. I thought he was as good if not better than Palacios, that doesnt say to much though as Palacios was cleaerly not fully fit.

This guy is a waste of time in taking up a valuable squad place for a decent player.

He did OK. Had a lot of covering to do for Palacios who went awol for most of the game.

For the past 2-3 years, Salif's been a bit of a liability, but this season, I reckon he's done a decent job for us whenever he's been called on.

To be fair to Kiev they moved the ball really well. I think Delap or Whelan would also have struggled.

I thought he did ok. Nothing special, nothing infuriating, just ok. He did his job. As PaulSpencer said in another thread, the combination of him and Palacios was odd.

Yeah they did, both of them got a bit forward more too. And that chance Palacios had was great play between the two.

You're probably right, and the games I've seen him play are usually in the Europa League where the pace probably suits him better. Still, he's done OK for us. Who is this Woodgate by the way?

Everytime he got the ball last night i found myself shouting "Give it to someone else Salif" but to be fair he was actually very composed and dare i say it, quite good!

He does have good vision and can pick out players with decent passes, but as posted further above it was the lack of movement from the forwards that let him down, as for Palacios he has more chins than parkin

it is clear to see people make their mind up on diao as soon as they see him on the team sheet i actuallly think he did ok for us [as he has done every time he has played for us this season]personally i would play diao and palacious again on sunday, rory is wasted in away games he cant use his throws effectivly because of the wider pitches and shorter run ups. whelan just doesnt do it for me and i would have whitehead on the bench for if we need to stiffen up the midfield in the 2nd half

I reckon it was a stroke of genius by Tone introducing WP with both Diao and Delap alongside him, and a massive statement of intent that WP is going to be an integral part of his plans. I believe the issues with WP are self confidence and last night was a massive step forward and for that Salif Diao did his part and did it well.
