1. Great open play goal from SJW 2. Two assists from Crouchy 3. A much improved performance from Ethers 4. Kept the pressure on right until the final whistle 5. Welcome back Ricardo 6. A better team performance than in the Newcastle and Bolton matches 7. Attacking substitutions were made and not left until the last moment 8. A great end to end game for the neutrals 9. Glen Whelan being allowed to shoot on sight. 10.The Huth and Shawcross central pairing has now exorcised its nerves and will be back to its indomitable self in the next game (clean sheets to be confirmed).

I agree with much of this but with TP it's always one step forward and one step backwards. Despite a better back five, why Wilko for Wilson? Despite a better defence why the two old warhorses in midfield? And he still doesn't know his best team! Jerome not even on the bench and £4m spent when we now have four other strikers yet a Division One midfield?

I think we were unlucky not to win yesterday, the ref was against us and we missed a few sitters, problem is we would have played badly and won that game last season, our defence needs sorting asap

I think we were unlucky not to win yesterday, the ref was against us and we missed a few sitters, problem is we would have played badly and won that game last season, our defence needs sorting asap To be honest we were playing pretty crap at the beginning of this season and yet somehow scraping through with the points. off the top of my head, the Norwich and WBA games we looked awful. Yesterday's performance was much more fluid and the there was a sense we were going to get at least a point. If it hadn't been for the abominations of Newcastle and Bolton, this result would be much easier to take on the chin.

Agree. Tonk Blackburn, beat Kiev and it will do wonders for confidence. Still need to play Palacios though.

4 years in, tens of millions spent and the best we can offer when we are losing is long throw in after long throw in.
Tragic.

4 years in, tens of millions spent and the best we can offer when we are losing is long throw in after long throw in. Tragic. I noticed with the throw that aside from one low one, they were all the same. No variation. I remember when we had set movements that offered more threat. This time, all we had was Crouch who would stand behind the goal line then run into the box. Always the same.

No where near good enough.
I've gone beyond being frustrated and pissed off by it all, its just laughable now.
Nothing against Delap, but I can't wait for the day he gives it all up as it will force Tone to actually think of another way of creating chances.
Actually, scrap that, he'll just find another player that can throw it really far.

We’ve played a lot worse than we did on Saturday and won, that is for certain. There were certainly plenty of positives in the performance and you hope that the defence will sort itself out eventually. I really don’t see us being pulled into a full on relegation scrap but it depends how the fans are going to react to a team who could now feasibly be in the bottom 6 or 7 for the rest of the year.

The positive was Etherington showing genuine form again and looking confident.
The big negative was the fact we look devoid of creating chances from open play and seem to rely too heavily on the long throw still, even though we get hardly any joy from it anymore.
I can't think of many times (if any at all) where we've played back-to-back league games in the Prem against teams in our bracket and failed to get any points.
If the same happens against Blackburn then I don't think it is far fetched to say we will be in a struggle this year.
