Well according to this guy on his Facebook page.
Stoke Loud & Proud Just had a email saying TIM Cahil will be a stoke city player if David Moves can get his 2 targets in

he would be perfect behind the main striker. an improved walters. and he's a real threat in set plays. would score goals for us i reckon.

cracking player but again would be no use to us when we dont create! we currently have the tallest centre forward in the prem that cant get a bloody cross on his head so cahill would be another waste of cash!

johnson would be the perfect signing. reckons himself to be too much of a big shot for us probably.

Wouldn't swap JW or KJ for him because of age! We need wingers to feed our strikers! If only Ethers and JP could reach the level they had when they were on top last season!

I hope we don't sign anyone in January.
The way out of this relegation scrap needs to come from the playing staff we already have.

Im sure march4 was hinting at this a few weeks ago...... But he is senile, and convinced that the Great War never ended, only now it's contested through football and it's Engerlund versus the nasty naughty foreigners

When I was talking to King George last night, he thought I was correct

Cahill is the absolutely perfect alternative to Walters - absolutely perfect.
If we actually need an alternative to Walters I'm not sure but if Super John was injured for any length of time, then I'm struggling to think of another player in the Prem who could play that (very) specific role for us any better.

Really? I wouldn't have thought he was a similar player to Walters in that he wont take on players as well as Walters and, although he is fantastic in the air, I cannot see him filling Walters role any better than Walters does.

Not so sure Paul.......We are desperately short of pace and need that type of alternative rather than a like for like? Cahill is a very good player of that there is no doubt but given his age it it doesnt make sense after Mr Coates stated not so long ago we were going for younger players

Too old....what we need is the next generation Cahill. Everton got him for fuck all from Millwall and if you ask me the Championship is where we need to be looking. A few more like Walters and we can, as TP says, push on.

We agreed a fee with Everton in August. The deal was going to go through but then Arsenal stepped in and brought Arteta.
Moyes said to Kenwright that if both players go he(moyes) is walking out on Everton so Kenwright had no alternative but to back down.
If as the OP says Moyes has got other targets lined up we should be able to go in for him. But as has been said above, Cahill is no spring chicken so why don't we go for the players Everton are bringing in?
