would be like getting two players as it would give us Wilson as another option in the middle of the pitch.
Wilson is still only 24 and we know he has had a great eye for a pass in the past. Maybe he's been playing at left back too long and a stint back in the centre would bring him back to his best midfield form?

I can't see us loaning. It's not TP's style.
Better off looking to see which players are on a free.

I read somewhere that PC doesn't like loans because PC doesn't see the players as an asset i.e. they haven't been bought and can't be sold. But, if funds are short we should consider a LB and left-winger on loan.

Oh yeah, we've had great success at signing and then selling players. As for loans, we hardly played Berger when we had him and Bothroyd and Ameobi didn't feature much either and we paid a fortune in wages for him.

not many left footballed players about that are available or good enough, Bridge is the only one that springs to mind, and no matter what we think of him, he has surely got to be better than what we have...

higgy will play there but we do need a competent replacement on the bench should he get injured again

Won't sign anyone until last day of Jan. Then a couple of months to get Stoke fit. Then a month to learn our ways. Should be roaring to go for last couple of games.

He's got the best passing and vision in our central midfielders! Don't judge him by his dodgy play when he's out of position

NONE of our midfielders(entire squad for that matter) can pass water (I'm reserving judgement on the other Wilson for a few years until he's 'Stoke Fit').

After 4 years and however many tens of millions spent isn't it sinking in that Pulis will never invest in fullbacks, just not on his radar

Bridge is the obvious loanee however I think Onuha would be the one to go for from Man City as he's well and truly out in the cold and could play anywhere accross the back four and in CM.

After 4 years and however many tens of millions spent isn't it sinking in that Pulis will never invest in fullbacks, just not on his radar It's a strange one - it's not as if he's never, ever, ever played or signed them despite them being few and far between. Griffin, Halls, Hall, Kelly etc. But now he seems to have abandoned the concept altogether.

On the final day of the Transfer window in August, Tone stated on SSN that he wanted to bring in 2 strikers and a midfielder, which obviously he got.
So you would imagine that he feels satisfied that he is fully stocked up in those areas.
On here there were a lot of comments saying, i hope he doesnt bring another defender in after the signing of Upsy daisy and Woodcrate.
OK we have Higgy, but thats all we have, surely a LB is the only priority come Jan...... errrrrr INHO ;D

Liam Ridgewell - should have signed him in the summer, should now make sure we get him in January.
I know he is another Danny H, ie a converted centre half, but honestly that is the only type of full back TP accepts. We are never going to get a flying Brazilian wing back type, are we?

We're not, but can we write off him bringing in a better version of Griff or Halls altogether? That said, I'd be happy with Ridgewell, and from what I've seen he can get up and down a bit more than Higgy.

I know he is another Danny H, ie a converted centre half, but honestly that is the only type of full back TP accepts. We are never going to get a flying Brazilian wing back type, are we? Took the words out of my mouth Jezza. I've been saying since Brum got relegated that he is ideal for us. He's a decent player and is the type of fullback that TP wants in his system. We could have and should have signed him when we had the chanc ein August instead of wasting our time chasing Scott Dann. In answer to the original question though, I just can't see TP going for a fullback in January just as he hasn't done in any of the last 3 transfer windows. He thinks Higgy is good enough even though he persisted with Collins and Griffin et al for so long. I crave a playmaker in midfield and a left back who could occassionally overlap with Etherington. The harsh reality is that I'll never get to see either. Its one of those things I've become used to. I tolerate it now. Its similar to wanting to shag a bird off the telly. You want to do it and you know you could if given the chance but its out of your power and its never going to happen. There we go-crap analogy of the day out of the way

March4 has without doubt a personal grievence with marc wilson, so his twopenceworth should be ignored by stokie fans, as he knows little about football.

Nothing wrong with Marc Wilson, lot of people said he'd become an amazing midfield player in years to come a long time before we signed him. We do need a LB though, would be happy with bridge, or warnock would make me very happy!
