I think its time to predict the team..
Bego Wilko Woodgate Upson Huth Pennant Delap Whelan Etherington Crouch Walters
Bench - Sorro, Higgy, Shotton, Whitehead, Palacios, Jones, Jerome
I think the team should be if fit..
Bego Wilko Huth Upson Higgy Pennant Whitehead Delap Etherington Jones Walters
Bench - Sorro, Woodgate, Shotton, Palacios, Whelan, Jerome, Crouch
(i'm assuming Shawcross and Wilson are out)

Whelan and Delap dont deserve to start after Monday. Neither does Etherington, we need to move away from selecting players because of what they've done in the past...players deserve to play on form.
Bego Wilko Huth Upson Higgy Pennant Whitehead Palacios Walters Crouch Jones (never thought i'd say Jones)

I can't see Whitehead starting after the amount of ground he covered last nite. Same with Higgy, it was great to see him finish the whole 90 mins, but the tempo was a hell of a lot lower than a Premier League game. He's still rusty and a couple of weeks away from a league game IMO. Palacios is the only funny one really, he didn't do a lot but also didn't look tired when he came off. So he could be close to a start which is good

Higgy for me would have to start Sunday simply because what other option do we have if Wilson is injured? Huth at full back is a fucking disaster and we all know that. We saw last night that he as good as any centre half at the club (Huth) I would like to see Jerome on Sunday mind, especially as he didnt play last night so will be fresh.

Yeah I would start Jerome also, get him to run his knackers off for an hour before bringing Jones or Walters off the bench for the last 30.
Higgy just isn't ready for the blood and thunder of the Prem yet. At one point last night, Diao headed the ball back to him and he just panicked and hoofed it 20 foot straight up in the air with his right foot (putting the defence unded needless pressure.) The old Higgy would have controlled it, then either knocked it down the line of hit a diagnal to the target man/right winger.
Delap and Palacios in the middle wouldn't suprise me on Sunday.

Hes been our most consistant midfielder the season, whether you like that or not its not possible to disagree.

If we're going to win, we have to score first, with away performances being as poor as I've ever seen I don't think we could come back if we go behind......even against a team who haven't won at home yet........

I'd go with the following: Sorensen Wilkinson Huth Upson Higginbotham Pennant Palacios Delap Etherington Walters Crouch I'd go with virtually the same team, only Begovic in goal and Whitehead in for delap after his deserving "back in the squad" performance of thursday night. Besides, Delap's throws are pretty much useless at home now, let alone away

If Huth and Upson are playing as CBs, then I'm confident that we'll get at least a point.

If Tone starts Floodgate tomorrow, he wants his head looking at! He has to pick on form n fitness not reputation: Upson and Huth every time for me at Noblot. Higgy needs more time after such a long lay off, so Wilko should play there if Wilson is unfit, and Shots on the right. Unfortunately, I feel Tone will push Huth out wide again to accommodate the accident and injury prone one.
I hope the wingers are fit, as they represent such a major part of our attacking threat, and we have to go for the win against a team so low on confidence. I'd like to see Jerome getting a game, paired with Jones, as pace on the break away from home is a vital commodity (and Jonny is at risk of being overworked). Tone will probably go for Crouch n Walters again, mind. If so, why not try Jerome out wide if one of the wingers does not make it? We must adopt a more attacking approach away from home to the lesser lights of the league, not go to hold out for a 0-0 from kick-off.
I hope Tone is bold in his selection and approach, as Noblot are there for the taking.

Hugh - Drew - Barney Mcgrew - Cuthbert - dibble - grub - etc
I know - I will try and interest, neigh stun everyone by picking my own Stoke city team for tomorrow
but, seeing as most of you reading this fucking thread have already been sent into a fucking coma by people doing this
--------------------------- I'll not bother
suffice to say, I hope he picks a team with the objective of actually trying to win an away game in the premier league
rather than, make us watch yet another excrutiatingly sterile, predictable, unimaginative and dull away performance in said premier league
so - here's hoping

really think palacios could benefit from deano, especially if hes not 100% and isnt quiet there yet, deano's got a cracking engine and always puts a shift in, therefore leaving palacios to get the ball and try and play.
