I actually though that Wilson was excellent at RB and then LB last season, he looked defensively sound and comfortable when asked to fill in in both positions. For some reason though, he has looked very average at times this season and absolutely shocking at others. He was awful today, as were a number of others, but we need Higgy back soon and then to sign a proper LB in Jan.

With Higgy and Ric back and a couple of decent loans in Jan (don't think we have the money for a perm deal) we will be fine. A bit of a rest for Wilson and work on him becoming what he's capable of, a bloody decent midfielder!

Feigned injury again for me, didn't fancy getting his ass whipped for pace by Obertan & give it the hammy strain.
Not the first time he's done that this season!

If Pulis played Super Jonny Walters in goal, there would be people saying he was crap and "should be sent on loan to Barnsley" etc. Clueless idiots. If you play someone out of position, whose fault is it if it goes tits up? Then it goes from the sublime to the ridiculous with Huth at right back and Wilko at left-back. May as well have brought on Mama Sidibe. What's the point in spending £10 million on Crouch - leaving KJ on the bench - but just playing a waiting game til Higgy is fit to play left-back? Sure, Pulis has got more decisions right than he's got wrong, but why do some people on here have their heads shoved so far up his backside that they don't allow anyone to point out his bad ones? No way would I advocate getting rid of TP, as has been rightly pointed out that was where Villa and Charlton went wrong. But how is having Yes Man Kemp as Pulis' right-hand man helping? I reckon Pulis takes about as much notice of him as Boskamp took of Rudgey.

Marc Wilson has been troubled with a hamstring for 2 months now and has not been allowed to rest it properley, pulis is destroying this lad by doing this and constantly playing him out of position, and as for know it all march he obviosly has somthing personal against the lad.

I like wilson. Although he was (very) poor last night, I thought woodgate was much much worse! Woodgate nearly put ba or best cant remember straight through with his first touch. He was dogshit last night and upson and huth should both play before him.

Wilson looked very good at right back last season. Higgy's injury forced him to left back. He may or may not make it in midfield but he's our best option at right back instead of the ponderous Huth (again, it's not his fault) or the ever-improving Wilkinson (sic).
He's going to become a whipping boy soon through no fault of his own. However, considering what we paid for him, I'd have expected him to be playing in his proper position by now instead of Delap or Whelan so something is amiss.

It'll be interesting to see if he gets any time in central midfield once Higgy's back.
That decision has been on ice since Higgy's injury, but once he's back, we'll finally get to see if TP has any faith in him playing in the position he shelled out £5m for him to operate in.
Or can he join the likes of Arismendi, Olofinjana and Whitehead on the expensive, failed midfield scrapheap?

He had an absolute mare last night, caught out on both their goals when he was on in my opinion and constantly gave the ball away. I don't think Matty's performances are helping him at the same time as he doesn't have the option of laying it down the wing and invariably has to go long with a ball over the top.

Higgy isn't the answer.

He's the best answer currently on the books, though. But, at 33 next month, and coming off a bad injury, he's probably a sticking plaster option at best.
Left-back has been a running sore for years, and he never shows any inclination to fix it properly. If Danny Collins was his big idea about solving it, we probably should be a bit fearful about who's next.

Complete indecision on the first cost him, he didn't know what to do or where to go and by the time he'd decided it was already in the back of the net. On the 2nd one, wasn't a great header granted but where the hell was he? What about his distribution that you've neglected to comment on?

He switched off for both of their goals. As grapey says the left back has been a problem for a while now. If a common sense approach is adopted then Hig should walk straight back into the team but it would appear as though the common sense bypass op was a complete success.

Sorry B&D I don't think they can be any worse than Wilsons at the moment but the defending will be a lot better.

Agreed SQ.
Just still think Higgy's best position is CB, and although he does a job wherever he plays,we need a bit more quality to the wingers from the wide positions.

Bang on the money and the worrying thing for me is teams have identified Wilson as the weakpoint of our team[as Phil Neville indicated last night in his 5 live summary].

I think Woodgates distribution makes Wilson look like Messi... im yet to see him go long and hit a player in a red shirt... he defies the law of averages....

i like wilson... i dont think it helps his passing with him playing at left back though and neither does it help that ethers should be his main target man and for some stupid reason... as i always say... he stays inside for aages and then only runs out wide after wison has to launch a huge pass up the field because he has no options.

He played a quality ball in the liverpool game, when he was moved over to the right back slot. He is in a position he can look very uncomfortable in at times, and despite having a few cracking games at left back for us, he has also had a fair share of shockers. I think he needs either to be moved to right back for his natural foot or given his shot in centre mid.
If he cant do either better than what we have then he'll still be a good player for us who can cover quite a lot of positions, like an improved version of danny pugh.

He is no left back, he is hardly a right back and sure isn't a Pulis midfielder so why did we swap Kitson, Lawrence and add a load of cash into the mix to buy the bloke ?
