Reality is we're not good enough to challenge for the top 6, as was mooted earlier in the season. We'll be fine, we won't go down, but with this team we can't expect miracles.

Scoring is bad, and lately we've been really poor for several games.
We really need to pick up now, and if we fail in some of our next games against bottom half teams, no matter if it's home or away, we will be in real trouble.

with the money spent over the last year we are massivly underperforming. we have been absolutly shite against teams in our "peer group". the only times we have played well is when we go out to "spoil" against the better teams.
Norwich away- wank and lucky west brom away- totally wank and incredibly lucky to get 3 points fulham at home- abysmal for most of the game swansea away- beyond wank sunderland away- total dogshite liverpool at home- wank and outplayed for most of the game and a lucky win man you at home- they were wank and we could have won chelsea at home- lucky to get a draw
overall, we have been dogshite all season for the money spent

upthefud its hardly an over reaction mate, we have been seriously outclassed 3 times in 8 days and some people arent worried.
When was the last time we played well or bloody had a go away from home? The problem with this board and stoke fans in general is that you get chastised for any criticism of pulis and his tactics. We all say how much he has done for the club etc and look where we are. Why doesnt he bloody try to achieve three points away or actually use palacios and huth from the start?

The fact that we are struggling to score any goals is a very worrying fact for all Stoke fans. The lack of scoring is a major ingredient in any relegation team. Add to that that our defence is now starting to leak goals after a good start becomes even more worrying. These sequence of poor results is no doubt going to affect the dressing room and team spirit. Huth for one is going to be moaning and once spirit starts to become eroded we could find ourselves dragged into a battle at the bottom. Very scarey!

Noone has said people can't comment or question. The opening poster simply stated that there has been an over reaction, as there is after every defeat. Some people do need a reality check. We will have bad days, just like any other club.

We desperately need a proper midfield general who can crate space and play in the front men and the wingers. Now if only we had such a player....................
Oh hang on - he's not quite fit enough yet???? Bloody Medical staff, cant get it right with Ba and cant get Palacios fit????

One of the worrying aspects for me is that we haven't been able to progress football wise. It's still basically the same style we had when we came up. We sometimes look good playing football, and there have been games where we have some great football, but just when we appear to be getting on a roll, we seem to revert back to safety first long ball style.
Today, Newcastle had done their homework. They stifled the wings by usually having 2 against Pennant and also blocked Etherington. After that, they backed themselves to block out our aerial bombardment which they did pretty well. Shawcross going off early didn't help, neither did Wilson's abject display. They also grafted well.

reality check? how about one for the manager who has p*****d away the best back four outside the top four.
Simply shocking how he's made Huth some kind of 4th choice scapegoat. Scandalous man-management.

Newcastle were bloody lucky tonight, though.
One shot on target from Stoke doesn't tell the whole story. They were on the back foot for the whole evening and we created no end of chances and half chances from balls into the box. They had three attacks and scored three goals - one of which was an absolute joke from a joke of a referee, one of which was down to poor management in not taking Wilson off as soon as he tweaked himself and the other of which was just rank bad defending on our left again. Just as we were building up a bit of momentum, the referee killed the game with that utterly ridiculous penalty in their favour.
I wish we played like that away from home though. There was plenty we could learn. Guthrie swooped across the back line, joining in with his winger and full-back to triple up on our wingers whenever possible. That was good.
Oh, and one last thing. Crouch and Woodgate need to seriously buck their ideas up.

On this board. We lost at home to an in-form Newcastle, we had a bad day at the office, every team has them. I think some of you need a reality check This kind of attitude just over-simplifies the issue. I couldn't go tonight and caught the game on a stream...this is what I gleaned... 1) We are completely aimless with our play. Newcastle went forward with purpose. We played the hoof + percentages game. Again. It failed. 2) Our midfield is dross. If Whelan has any more backers on this board, then they should have their accounts suspended immediately. Delap is showing his age. Total rubbish. 3) For the first time I would have to admit that we've started to resemble a rugby team. Hoof it, chase it, play for set plays and territory. That's what we do. Not argument to be had. 4) The recent signings have weakened the side. Crouch is completely useless in this set-up. Woodgate - he's a fanny - for fucks sake. 5) Our set plays are predictable. No movement in the box. Rory's throw ins are a parody of themselves. Teams now have the measure of what we are all about. It's all well and good saying that 71% of our goals come from set-plays. What's 71% of fuck-all again? 6) Tony 'Tinkerman' Pulis needs to decide what his best Premiership XI is, then save fucking around with the back four etc for the Carling Cup (oops), FA Cup, and Europe.... For all our 'progress', money spent, etc, we are behind Swansea, Norwich, and level with QPR.....we are no further forward now than we were a couple of seasons ago - in fact in some respects we have gone backwards. And before anyone accuses me of being a wrist-slasher...we might well beat QPR & Blackburn in the next two home games (subject to us getting a free kick, or a penalty, here and there)...but the issues we have go deeper. The wins we are picking up are all smash and grab, ram-raid efforts. The(few) goals we score are all brawn and no brain. 4 seasons in, and I expected a little more. Fair play to Newcastle tonight. Oh and that Demba Ba looks a handy lad, he made us look pricks even with one knee.
