Who will TP play upfront tonight against Newcastle? I know Jerome is banned for Thursday so think TP will lean towards him to start.

Are you for real? Just cuz he's banned doesn't mean he has to play 1 game a week! Walters will get that spot everyday of the week.

walters has been virtually our best player so far this season, no question he should start. this is a big game for us, we need a win to boost our position a bit and put us slightly above midtable where we should be aiming to finish this season i think. we need our 1st 11 tonight cos newcastle are very good this season. hope tiote is injured, that would be a huge boost for us.

Walters will play. As will Delap and Shawcross.
Some things Pulis just won't mess with. And in Walters case, quite rightly.

Walters is prob the first name on the teamsheet for TP, no way he'll be dropped.

I'd pick Mark Walters over Jerome!! What a strange comment for a Stoke supporter to post! Have you not seen a game of football in the last 20 years then? You obviously haven't seen Cameron Jerome play!

Walters 100%, Jerome still has to prove that he has what it takes to start getting starts in the Prem.

Walters 100%, Jerome still has to prove that he has what it takes to start getting starts in the Prem. Unbelievable!!! The guy scored 21 premier league goals for Birmingham, including one season with a strike rate of just over 1 goal in 3 games. Tony Pulis has chased his signature for 12 months or more, yet as a Stoke supporter, you post that Cameron Jerome still has to prove that he has what it takes??? Unbelievable!!!

We should play diao up front, crouch in goals huth cb (heaven forbid) shawcross right wing delap rb etc etc etc etc let's just fuck up everything and see what a horrible mess the match would be ;D
but seriously, walters is the star man and deserves the constant play but how in the world would we ever know the potential of our new additions if we never gave them a chance to shine? I'd like to see jerome start tonight.

Walters is absolutely the right man to start this game. as people have said, he's made himself practically the first name on the team sheet.

For the record, I think John Walters should be first choice everytime. However if TP decided to rest JW or rotate his squad with other games in mind, I wouldn't think 'oh no we will have to make do with the unprove Cameron Jerome'. To the contrary, he may be a different kind of player, but I think he is an equal replacement to John Walters. Which is surely what we want as Stoke supporters.

He's still adapting as it stands though and I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that so far he is still to prove himself as a Stoke player.

I think if theri is one player who TP will happily play 3 games in however many days its Walters no problem with Jerome coming on or starting myself. he's looked keen & offers a different aproach than our other strikers

Sorry but I really don't rate Jerome. Very happy to be wrong and I hopefully will but I've never been a fan of him and would rank him behind Crouch, Walters, Jones and Fuller.

Fuller isnt fit though is he (?) plenty of fixtures between now & Jan for all our strikers (inc Ric) & that's without injuries/suspensions we have to rotate

I can take the 'speaking shit' insult, but please do not refer to me as having some kind of obscene affection for Pulis! and I disagree Jerome, Crouch and Palacios do not have to prove they have what it takes. They have proven they have 'what it takes', that is how Pulis persuaded the board at Stoke to go out and spend the multi millions they did on those players. Now once they are in the team and playing games regularly, it turns out they no longer 'have what it takes' then you can come on and have a moan and throw insults. Of course if said players don't prove themselves at Stoke City, Pulis's star will start to slip, which sounds like something else you would like to see.

I honestly don't think TP will look at Ric being a regular starter again impact sub
ideally, imho,Ric will take that & be a fanstatic supersub & earn a new contract

Well it was the only reason i could think of for you to react in such a way to my comments. Of course any player has to prove them selves what ever they have done in the past, we cant just select a team on name alone, they have to show they can do it for stoke on a regular basis at the same time adjusting to the tactics that Pulis uses. At what point was I having a moan?

It's simple, we start Walters, he bags us 3 goals in the first half, then we rest him for Thursday and bring Jerome on. Sorted! ;D
