Whitehead and Whelan in the middle, the worst possible partnership. We've effectively lost already. Correct. Unless we have a huge slice of luck somewhere, the pattern of the game is already set.

pennant must be injured and woody either injured or left out Or is TP making this one of his 'not really bothered' matches. For me, I couldn't be bothered if Woodgate has been consigned to clearing out TP's loft today. Woodgate has been crap, cost us some crucial goals this season already and should be nowhere near the starting XI at the minute.

Really wanted Palacios to start :\ same Are you old enough to remember Billy Glassback? It took him months and months to get fit after we signed him. ;D

We're always going to be defensive playing arse away. so with that and the current injuries in mind, this team is probably the best we've got. But yeah, Hopefully Walters will go out wide with jerome or jones coming on if we need a goal.

Cant see where our creativity will come from, especially with Etherington still out of form prior to this game. We need something magical from Jonny Walters one feels.

As much as I detest Manu I really want us to give Arsenal a game today for once at their place and I want us to beat them more than any other team at the moment. So cmon lads you can do it.I think.

I think we will see walters out wide from the start in a 4-5-1 with Delap, Whelan, and Whitehead in the middle.

The Palacios situation is clearly different from the Tuncay situation.

But its ridiculous when the guy has proven he IS fit with some fine performances in Kiev and in midweek. Put it this way...is he that unfit to outweigh the cons of Delap on the right?

Could be that Walters starts on the right in a 4-5-1 with Delap, Whelan, and Whitehead in the middle??

Just like he couldnt bring himself to drop anyone to accomodate Tuncay, even Sidibe.

Billy Glassback aka Paul Maguire played 30 mins and then missed the next 12 months through a mysterious back injury. Hence the nickname (he also looked a bit like Billy Whizz out of the Beano). I have been worried about Palacios' fitness since he signed. He doesn't seem to be getting any better physically.

Palacios is TP's wet dream of a midfielder and the concerns with him are to do with his fitness. He's being eased in very slowly - it's worrying that he seems no nearer to full fitness yet, but if he was fit, he'd be a fixture in the side.

Tuncay didn't play because he was unable to adapt his game to fit into our team shape.

Only been watching them since early 90s so just missed Maguire. Did the fans feel he should have been starting? But Palacios has showed his quality with 2 consecutive through balls creating 2 great chances...we havent seen that from our midfield in years

Van Persie on the bench. gervinho + chamakh up front. Their midfield can't keep it like they used to. Still think they're suspect at the back. And slow (jerome second half?).
I sniff half a chance. We've gone with a very solid line up. If we get in amongst them, we could be in business. If we sit back......
