My six year old daughter got given some complimentary football tickets from school.
The problem is that they are for Crewe tomorrow and shes excited because her class mates have tickets too.
I've not taken her to Stoke yet as she has never been that interested, and I don't think she would want to watch the full 90 minutes.
She has been brainwashed in all things Stoke since day one, has the shirt, the obsessed Dad etc.
But can I cope with her first ever game being at Crewe? ???

I don't see the problem. My daughter's first game was at about the same age on a complimenatry ticket at Lincoln City, like yours, with the school. It hasn't deflected her from her destiny . Take my word for it, at that age, she won't really be interested in the football and it won't really matter which teams are on the pitch. It will be all about being with her friends and having a laugh. You'd be committing her to social ignominy if you don't take her, so just grit your teeth and get on with it. Make sure you've got lots of cash to buy snacks and treats, and get ready for lots of trips to the toilet! Mind you, you could always get her to ring P&G after the game, every other bloody Crewe fan gets on!

my daughters first game was when she won 2 tickets to see the vale at the age of 10 when we got home she asked if we could go again.I said I would take her to the footy but it would have to be the potters as I felt she needed bringing up properly.11 years on she is a bigger fan than I am season ticket away games when she isnt working weekends and even works for sir Peters company ps you can only get done for child cruelty if you take them to more than 1 crewe or vale game at that age,so take her and then get her to see the light at the brit

Take her to see Crewe. If she enjoys it ask her if she wants to see some real football. She'll be a regular at the brit in no time.

Dear Mr Wakefield The advice so far has been very one sided. The obvious solution is to take your daughter out of that school with immediate effect. If you cannot find an alternative which will guarantee that football related trips for Year 1 pupils will focus exclusively on SCFC, then you should be one of those parents who educate their children at home. This will involve giving up your job (and possibly moving house, as you may not be able to maintain your mortgage repayments). But she will appreciate it, and so will the current Mrs Wakefield. Because following SCFC is (overall) about misery, disappointment, false dawns and frustration. In other words, it is a valuable life lesson. Let us know how you get on.

my first ever game was at crewe, my old man wanted to see if i would be ok with a few people around me before he took me to stoke and a proper crowd, worked a treat and been going nearly 40 years.

Take her to Crewe.
She will see the other end of the evolutionary scale: Folk with dreadful clothes and hygiene, all related to each other. A people with dental hygiene that would even shock The Pogues and she will also leave being quite adept at playing the banjo.
She will marvel at all the properties on stilts with the cars parked under them, and she will be put off ever buying a lumberjack shirt and will never want to chew on a stick wearing a hat with GASOLINE on it.
Also, as it was +10 last night there will be a good chance the pitch will be frozen anyway, as Crewe are the only team in the whole world with a big stand.

Hopefully, you were a Dad and took her to Crewe where her friends were all going. You have ages to take her to Stoke SGS

My uncle took me my first ever game aged about 6.........down the vale! Never been back. Let her go - won't do any harm. Make sure she goes to stoke though, soon.

Spot on Linx, she did watch for about 10 minutes in between asking for sweets, then crisps, and toilet breaks. My favourite observation from her "Dad, it's much better watching football at the ground" Me "why is that" Daughter "because you don't have to listen to those silly men talking on the tellly" She has a point... Least favourite question. "what's offside"

If it helps to get her into football, then it's no bad thing.
I love football and I'll go and watch any old team play (planning to go and watch Rotherham soon). It makes me feel good to inject a tiny bit more money into a lot of clubs who need it, possibly experiencing a new ground/atmosphere and also reminds me of how good things are for our club at the moment.

What happened then. You can never leave a Crewe game early. The opposition love the last 15 minutes ;D
