...fancy a decent bit o red meat this weekend - anyone got a recommendation of a place (pub, restaurant whatever) where they cook it right, and get a decent cut...say 10 mile radius of Stoke / South Cheshire... Sick of going for a T-bone that comes with a toe-nail sized fillet....and is either raw or burnt to a crisp....

On a similar theme, I am travelling from Barrow In Furness for the Stoke Man U match on Saturday. As it is a late kick off I fancy a bit of pub grub before the match. Can anybody recommend a pub near to the Britannia that does decent pub grub?
I usually park my car at the Plough Inn and have a pint before the match but have never eaten there. Anybody recommend the Plough Inn?

That small pub opposite the Octagon centre where Mamas and Papas is, is supposed to be bob on mate. Problem s it is that good I've also heard you have to book WELL in advance.
Everyone reckons their steaks are :
1: Huge 2: Gorgeous.
Short of going there just find the biggest assed cow you can find and just slice a huge chunk off its arse.
Onions, mushrooms etc ..... Job done.

Best place I know in stoke area for a good steak! Like above poster says, book well in advance.

Good shout gibby, cracking food in their. I think it's as good as it gets for a Pub Steak Clyde! Good value too, and the Ale is always good. The Steaks come from Bagshaws in Butterton where I live, the Animals are slaughtered in a new Slaughter house behind the Shop, so the meat is a fresh as it could be! Pete the Landlord at the Jervis has a wicked sense of humour, and once you get to know him, is a good laugh!

Thanks to all - esp for remindin me how good the Jervis at Onecote was - ages since we been over.....like above tried Rare and found it to be a bit of a disappointment (food & service)...
Miller & Carter and the Plough will be packed / booked for tommorow so may try the Legs o Man...
Out of interest, andyone tried a chateaubriand (£45 Miller and Carter) ??? worth it??

The best pub food in the world is at 'The Evenwood' pub at Sandymoor Runcorn
On a quiet midweek night there is normally 100 cars on the carpark. The Carvery is £6.00 a head and the dearest steak is about £12 . The Bickerton Poacher was good as earlier mentioned , but the Evenwood is something else...

www.leekwhitelion.co.uk/Although a little out of the way and not exactly palacial, I had the best steak in a long time here. Miller & Carter can be great but also shocking at times. Plough in Etruria superb also.

Miller & Carter do a cracking Rib Eye but you have to have it medium at the absolute most! Long time since I have been to the Plough but can't say I was that impressed tbh. All this talk of steaks....I'm off to sangams

It was my parents 50th wedding anniversary last weekend and we went to The Old Mill between Alsager and Radway Green. I had the nicest sirloin ive ever had. Cooked just right. Gorgeous onion rings, tomato with a fantastic peppercorn sauce on the side. The meal was well priced and good portions

You could do a LOT worse than The Boars Head near nantwich, best steak ever.
o down the a500 towards nantwich, head for stapeley water gardens, go past the water gardens, stay on the road for a few minutes and its there on the left.

My dad reckons Legs of Man, Grandad rates Plough at Etruria or Miller and Carter ;D
My mate went somewhere in Dresden (might have been Rare), did a steak challenge, had a 32oz steak as part of a three course meal, said it was gorgeous ;D
