I would imagine as the weekend draws nearer, that the media will again turn their attention to David De Gea and the use of the long throw and the freak that is Peter Crouch. I'd argue a certain united striker is more of a freak (The one with pubes suddenly growing off the top of his head)

I fucking hate Man Ure fans. Bunch of gloryhunting pricks who just take success for granted and dont appreciate it. They'll never know or understand what its like to support a proper team like ourselves, and its not jealousy, far from it. I'd rather be dead than support Man Ure.
Now to all the Man Ure fans on here i have a simple message....
YOU'RE ALL A BUNCH OF CUNTS NOW PLEASE FUCK OFF.

I hate their inarticulate buffoon of a manager with a passion. He's treated like a God for doing what many others have done before him e.g Busby, and that is spend a vast income(or borrowings) on good players. A chimp could do the same! I'm not a great fan of his either but it is not just at United that he has had success ,he broke the dominance of the old firm when he was the manager of Aberdeen , they not only won the Scottish league and cup on several occasions but also the European Cup Winners Cup which was a tremendous achievement.

A true Man Utd. fan wouldn't be on here trolling, they wouldn't be arsed. They do actually have some decent fans. These goons are obviously local 'fans' who are 'United through and through' and give the genuine fans who actually go to games a bad name. Sad thing is, there's fucking thousands of them about.

for their supporters (i mean mancs not the tourists) it is going to be like a cup final for them. An atmosphere, proper supporters and no Japs with cameras and bags full of cheap club shop merchandise. Its not every week they get to experience what an afternoon at the match should be like. i wouldnt say that, i notice whenever chelsea or man u rock up then so do the japs

Stupid thread whether you're levelling or you genuinely believe what you've written. Also, LOL at the reference to "japs". I've seen east-asian looking stoke supporters at the games over the past few seasons. To view it as anything other than fantastic is retarded. Stoke supporters are the most smalltime imo. Sorry but that's just how it is.

The behaviour of their supporters on this board (and at their ground, and whenever you hear one on the TV/Radio, and on the internet, and in newspapers) suggests otherwise. Like I said before, Arsenal supporters are clueless footballer haters who are better suited to ballet. Manchester United supporters could not possibly be more small time if they tried, though. Everything about them is small time.

Their Away support being Horrible is absolute Bulshit mate
Their away support is incredible for a british team (ofcourse not on par with the likes of Turkish, south american support) they got the numbers, the songs and the chants to create a athmosphere
Liverpool,Chelsea and Arsenal got terrible Home and Away support(arsenal being the worst) United as much as i dont like them are miles ahead of the 'big 4' when it comes to away support
But when it comes to Home support Yes i do agree since thats where all the glory hunters and prawn sandwich brigade go and watch

I for one have always had a bit of a soft spot for Utd - there I've said it Not all of their supporters can be classed as glory hunters, I know quite few who went to games - in the not so good years. Dont think they will see this as their cup final somehow. When the fixtures come out I always look at our 1st and last games for some reason, and then just go down the list. It's great to be in the company of Utd, but as far as teams I would really like to see us beat - they are way down the list. Dont like the fact that they are incapable of having a bit of banter - that is what football's all about; however, it is almost impossible to get on one of their chat sites - Snooze!!!!!!!!!!!

For all the bravado and 'we're the bestest supporters in the world ever and we invented everything in football ever', they're pretty dire compared to Hajduk and the Torcida. In our first season after promotion, I could think of several teams who were much, much better than them that season. Off the top of my head, Spurs, Villa, Middlesbrough and even Chelsea made much, much more noise. Peculiarly, Villa and Spurs have been pretty mediocre after that and Villa in particular have struggled to sell their allocation. The second season they were good, no question about that. We barely made a peep and they gave it everything for the majority of the game. Can't fault them there. Last season it was a bit hit and miss. I'd say it was about 50-50 between us and them. They'd picked the strange habit of making all their songs completely unintelligible. 'Merr merr merr merr merrrrr, merr merr merr merr meeerrrrr, merr Man United, merr merr merr merr meeerrr' and so on. Note their reaction to the Stoke goal compared to the Hajduk fans, again.

Didn't our fans cheer every Chelsea goal when we went to OT on the last day of the season a few years back?
That's pretty "small-time", if you ask me.

Didn't our fans cheer every Chelsea goal when we went to OT on the last day of the season a few years back? That's pretty "small-time", if you ask me. Or is it just banter with the home supporters? For example, a few years ago Stoke supporters sang 'you've got your Chelsea tops on order' to the supporters near us. One man got very irate about it and got himself thrown out. They got very irate about the winding up on that game on the last day of the season, come to think of it. Getting wound up by a few supporters chanting to the extent of getting thrown out, or attacking vulnerable sorts outside of the ground? Small time. But come on, it's something football supporters do. Villa sang 'we'll never see you again' and the like when they were 2-0 up at Villa Park, was that small time? Some teams chant 'you're going down to the <local inferior rival>' at relegation candidates, is that small time? Anyway, it's not like they didn't come to Stoke and sing 'it's just like watching Port Vale', is it? That's effectively the same thing.

This is one of the most ridiculous threads I have ever seen on here. To say that the home game against the shit isnt a big game for us is complete rubbish as I can guarantee you it's one of the top 4 games most people look for when the fixtures are out.
There isn't a fan in England that looks forward to the game at the Brit but to say the shit fans look for the fixture above all others is an embarrassingly naive statement to make. Their support at the theme park is among the worst in English football but they have arguably the best away fans in England, we probably just pip them to it though.
I can only assume you are on a massive wind up, and if so then fair play to you pal as you've managed to get plenty of biters, myself included, but I really cannot see how you could possibly be serious.
That said, I am in the vast minority that think we could possibly get something from the game. We need to be very quick out of the traps and press them high up the pitch from the start. If we could get a few throws in to test De Gea early on then we could unsettle their defence and hopefully Evans plays as he is extremely average and Walters could get quite a bit of joy out of him. A draw would be a decent result but is certainly achievable.

At last its agreed we do have the best away fans bar none! if you want to call fans who taunt the families of people murdered in Istanbul, attack and molest catering staff, turn up to youth team games to gloat about people dying at Hillsborough, attack women and people in wheel chairs just because they were out sung at home the best fans bar none. Most decent people will call you scum, but from where you are sitting behind your computer in Surrey i can see how you might think that.

I can understand being a united supporter if you have local connections to Manchester and live in the area, but it's people who live no where near the place and support them that I will question.
I know far too many of them where I live, some have season tickets and go to pretty much every game which is fair enough, but I know plenty who have never been to a united game in their life and can't name any players past their first 11.
Going to a pub to watch the champions league final full of united "fans" showed a lot of them for who they are. They didn't know where to put themselves after being humiliated on the big stage. Safe to say, the pub emptied as soon as Barca were the clear winners.
While they saw a glimpse of some of the pains of supporting a club outside the "big four", it proves these glory hunters support to ultimately b hollow, as they will never truly know the emotions of being a real football supporter.

I'm pissing myself in disbelief at this thread. Not the original post from MD which is absolutely superb, but the amazingly persistent way almost everybody else seems to have had their brains removed, judging by the responses.
Virtually every time I come on this board now, I feel depressed at the lowering of 'standards' and the proliferation of the mentally retarded. I don't think I'll bother much more.
Thanks MD for your attempts at satire and I'm sorry you have to plough through the mindless responses. Someone suggested the other day that an IQ test would be a good idea before anyone was allowed to post on here. I fully agree.

As someone who first started going to Stoke in the 70's I can remember the rivalry between Stoke and Manure was very intense then......and in my eyes even when we were down in the 3rd division they still were rivals. Growing up in Leek the rivalry at School was very intense, there were quite a few "Staffordshire Mancunians" as my dad liked to label them about, and Monday mornings when we had won and they had lost were always great.
I can remember the celebrations going back a few years when we beat them, the goal scored by Carl Saunders in the holocaust season to beat them, Big Brens goal a few years earlier to beat them, Alan Bloors last minute winner at Old Trafford to leave them needing a miracle to avoid relegation (and they got stuffed by Citeh to confirm relegation), and of course Steinos wonder goals in the league cup. So for me they've always been one of the key rivals, and probably always will be.
That said, you have to admire and accept the levels they continue to achieve. And much as we all dislike him, Fergie has proved to be one of the greats.
However it has been noticeable that their attention on Stoke has been considerably higher since that game on the last day of the season 18 months ago. What was clear from that day is that we went there to wind their supporters up, and it worked on a level we could never have imagined. I was on the tram back down to Alti after the game and the level to which their supporters were wound up with us was amazing. The fact they're still on about it is proof that it was a job well done by the Stokies there that day - in truth some of them (not all) are still very bitter about it and it shows.
Like every club they have their share of very genuine and passionate supporters, their share of idiots, their share of good time charlies. But they also have a lot of glory hunters, more so than any other team.
Saturday is a difficult game for us, they have a fantastic team again, and some high quality individuals. In truth getting a draw Saturday will be a tough ask. But here's hoping.
