I'm far from being a wrist slasher, I'm too long in the tooth and seen too much dross down the years to stop appreciating where we are right now.
But just wondered how many of us would (if offered) like to drop the Europa League right now?
I know it shouldn't but how many think the exertions of Thursday have taken a big toll on today?

your having a laugh. its a prize for doing well, playing in europe. professional footballers should be fit enough to play to games in a week, even if ones 1000s of miles away. Id love to be in it every year

No thanks.
We'll finish in a mid-table position regardless of whether or not we're in the Europa League.
Nobody remembers mid-table finishes. People remember cup runs and trophies.

Not a chance. If you were at any of the 3 Europa away days, you wouldn't have even thought about posting such a stupid subject on here.
Shit bin

Before jumping down my throat Volvic, I wasn't saying 'fuck this Europa League bollocks' like some have on here. I'm loving it as much as everyone else and I'm nowt but proud of us playing competitvely in Europe. It's the yardstick to how far we've come. I was just trying to guage opinion if it's going to affect our league form too much. Jeez

We've built a squad big enough to handle the league Europe and domestic cups (apart from the wing positions).
Today was poor but it had nothing to do with Thursday (IMHO).

We have our away point now. So field a strong side at home, and send the kids / reserves away for the last two away games.

Praise the Lord, someone else had noticed! We were pretty shit today and we were against Kyiv in the week bar our defending. I can see us maybe getting a point vs Utd but loosing to Swansea but we will finish mid table again and hopefully get a decent cup run together! People need to calm down!

TP will have to work out how best to use the squad. Mass changes for each game may not be the best way to go. We looked very disjointed today. We did look tired today, even the players who didn't play that much on Thursday. I can't remember seeing JOn Walters do so little effective running.
We are in the Europa League, it will have an effect on our league form. We will learn how to best deal with it to suit our players, but that may take time. To blame today on Thursday's marathon journey is pointless though. We have had off days in the past and will have them in the future regardless of a crowded fixture list. Lets enjoy the European ride for all its worth.
I believe we are good enough to have cup runs and maintain our league status.

We might not be in Europe for another 30 years, drop the domestic cups instead.

Absolutely not! The 3 away trips so far have been up there with the best 3 days of my life. Why would I want to stop that for an extra position in the league?

We might not be in Europe for another 30 years, drop the domestic cups instead. Better still. Drop nothing. Try to win every game and get the fuck on with it!

No today was about poor tactics, poor team selection and poor performance. We made 8 changes, the Europa League should not be a problem.

Nice one for the sensible replies Looks like general opinion then is 'loving being in Europe, wouldn't swap it for owt and if it costs us a few points then so be it' Sorry if it came across as another over reaction to today (there's been one or two) ;D As I said, I'm no wrist slasher, just after few opinions.

I'd rather stay up on the last day of the season on goal difference, finishing 17th and play in the Europa League than have a comfortable season and finish somewhere between 8th and 14th whilst not playing in the Europa League.

I certainly wouldn't want to drop it. Playing in Europe is reward for the hard work the players and mangement put in last season as well as some well deserved respite for us supporters!
People can't use Thursdays game in Kiev as an excuse (and thankfully Tony didn't) as half the players who played didn't even feature yesterday!

Theres nothing really to play for in the league, theres virtually no chance of relegation and no point even mentioning getting into the top 4. We wont be playing European football every season so it should be the priority this year, if Fulham can get to the final theres no reason why we carnt make the quater finals at least which i think would be a better sign of progression than finishing 9th or 10th.

I think the original post is right. I'd like to drop the Europa # and the Carling Cup (we've already won it) # and the FA Cup - we always lose FA Cup finals # And the Prem is bloody expensive and we get a huge income which just goes out on players' wages and agents' fees. In fact I can't see the point of any of it - I'd be quite happy just to wear my Man Utd shirt sat in front of the telly!

No, that's what we're going for each season in the league. End up as high as possible to get a place in Europe.

I'd rather finish 17th every season and have a good run in the cups. Realistically 6th is about the highest a club our size can ever hope to finish and even that is a stretch.

Win our 3 home games and we should go through - Get what we can away from home with players who fit and able to play.
What happens in the league happens but once again if we win our home games then it shouldn't be too much hassle. That's what's helped us to stay up amid relative safety so far in the Premiership.
