Anyone else very excited to see Jerome play on Thursday? When we signed him I wasnt particularly inspired, but having done some research, looked at some stats and seen some clips the guy could be a very useful player to us. I think last season was a total disaster for him, but it was probably his only poor season. He is everything we've been missing for a few months: a quick striker capable of playing on the wings. Could be the ideal Fuller/Tuncay replacement, and still fairly young (in comparison with the rest of our squad).
No doubt he will start Thursday.

He could well be. I'm glad we signed him over Carlton Cole anyway. Time will tell.

Jerome actually had as many premier league assists as pennant last season (7 in total). Not bad in a team that struggled to score. I'm of the opinion he'll score a few more goals in our setup too. He is certainly not a lone striker, which he was used as last season, but with someone alongside him i think he'll be a real hit. I don't see him being able to play the walters role as some on here do though. I think he's complete lack of a first touch or tactical awareness will see to that. I can only see him playing as our furthest man forward. He'll naturally push the opposing defence back a few yards through the sheer threat of his pace, he'll run the channels and just make a general nuisance of himself, whilst hopefully bagging a few goals. A super deluxe Akinbiyi if you like Just under £4m for him is a cracking deal IMO.

Hes a big, strong striker with great pace and will run the channels so he will fit in perfectly to our system. I think he'll be a great signing for us and a real bargain at £3.75M.

Since his physical attributes are world class, if we can develop him as a football player (touch, finishing, movement) then there's no reason that we couldn't have the English Drogba on our hands.

I'm nearly as pleased with Jerome's signing as I am with Crouch & Palacios. I think he'll be a real handful once he's found his place in or around the first team.

Thats a bloody big "IF", Whilst aknowledging the achievements of our management team with regard to results, shape and organisation I can't think of a single player who's touch, finishing and movement they have improved. Why do you think they will start now?

Agreed, he'll be a good runner for us no doubt but Stoke would be the wrong place for him to improve touch etc side to his game, Walters already had a good touch and finish before he came to Stoke.

He will be a big hit i think. Direct, quick, wants to go past someone, good at holding it up to. People have said he cannot finish very well but we can be the judge of that cnt we...

I'll be honest I'd hardly seen anything of Walters before he joined us but from what I've seen he's improved nearly every aspect of his game since he arrived,.pace, strength, touch, shooting, movement & passing. I can only assume that's down to the coaching and management at the club. Still excited about Jerome getting a game though.

He certainly adds something different to our system and can be bough ton to change the game, as well as adding some of that raw pace we've been crying out for.

You bunch of contradictory buggers you!!! ;D Before the window shut, there were threads slagging him off and multiple posts on threads like NEW SIGNINGS. How times of changed! Having said that, I have to agree and say that I think Jerome is perfect for us. I always thought he would, but untill the window closed, I just wanted someone supposedly better. Glad TP hasn't lost sight of what we need and who really fits our style like so many of us did on here, during the window!
