I thought he was absolutely sublime today, and he was my MOTM. I think he was substituted as a precaution because I noticed he was holding his groin in the 2nd half. I can't credit him enough though, he would without question be my partner for Palacios in the middle when both players are fit. His stamina levels are fantastic, and he has the best football brain in the club. The number of times he drops and covers the centre-backs when they go forward, he just views the game so well. I lost count of the number of times he broke play down today and intercepted Liverpool players passes. He is an absolutely top pro and a vital player for us. Well played Rory. Couldn't agree more. Criminally under-rated is our Rory. Arguably the key to much of our recent success and deserves to be spoken about as a true Stoke legend. Top man and top player. Just wish he was 5 years younger!!!! Well said ! A model pro and deserves far more respect then he is given.

Whitehead had a good game today, but he isn't as important to us as Rory is, especially with our throw ins against poorer teams and his defensive nouse against the better teams. Palacios probably didn't look like a great passer at Spurs alongside Modric, I bet he'll look different class in our midfield.

I thought Rory was mint and Whitehead was average.
Whitehead's passing is far worse than Rory's IMHO.
(Won't fault the commitment from either though.)

No coincidence that with our two worst passers in the middle that we barely kept the ball all match. Having said that Delap and Whitehead are definitely under-rated for their defensive play. If these two could pick a pass as well as break up play then they wouldn't be playing for us because they are top class when we haven't got the ball.

Delap is still the best midfielder at the club for me. Much better player than Whelan who consdiering he is supposed to be our best passer of a ball gives it away a hell of alot.

Always comfortable on the ball, a great passer and scarily creative. ;D

Could not disagree more ! One of the reasons we give up so much possession is cis of Rory ! I thought his passing today was poor even by his standards ! Rory has been a good servant but we need to move on but his link up play is dreadful ,he just almost gives us zero options going forward . Not to mention his shocking lack of pace ! Yes Rory patrols the defence well but has to cos he gives the ball away so often ! Sorry IMO delap was very poor today !

He is a fantastic reader of the game and was very good again today at being in the right place at the right time. He is in a different league to Whitehead and should defo be in our 1st choice CM pairing with Palacios, with Glenn as back up and Whitehead as 2nd back up at best.

Rory is much a unsung hero in midfield many stokies only see him for his throw, the bloke who sits behind me at the game in the boothen 'hates him' abuses him every game, for me its going to take a top class midfielder to secure his place. (For the record the same bloke is on jones back before he's even kicked a ball)

I love how you say he should "defo" be 1st choice with Palacios even though you've never seen Palacios/Whelan Palacios/Whitehead. Whitehead is a pretty ordinary player but hes far more competent than Delap and so is Whelan who carried him time after time last season. Did you watch the FA Cup final? Well from where I was sitting i'd say he was a massive reason for our tame defeat. Toure shat all over him. Stop bigging him up.
