I thought he was absolutely sublime today, and he was my MOTM. I think he was substituted as a precaution because I noticed he was holding his groin in the 2nd half.
I can't credit him enough though, he would without question be my partner for Palacios in the middle when both players are fit. His stamina levels are fantastic, and he has the best football brain in the club.
The number of times he drops and covers the centre-backs when they go forward, he just views the game so well. I lost count of the number of times he broke play down today and intercepted Liverpool players passes. He is an absolutely top pro and a vital player for us. Well played Rory.

What? Palacios has to start matches. Whitehead was miles better than Delap today who was average. Didnt really get in the game. He did ok but was certainly not good enough to displace Whitehead. (Personally i'd have Whelan ahead of both but I think Whitehead is good for these kind of games where we are on the back foot for large chunks of the game). He broke down play maybe 4 times at most. Palacios is excellent at reading the game but will provide us with much better quality on the ball.
How you think he was better than Shawcross, Begovic, Upson, Whitehead, Walters and Crouch is absolutely beyond me, but thats fair enough, this board is for opinions and you have as valid an opinion as anyone else. Delap in my eyes got subbed because he was looking tired and off the pace.

I thought Rory had a superb first half and understandably tired a bit in the second half.
For a bloke who has had a hamstring issue, he was immense.

Was it a coincidence that Whitehead and Delap started today, and we couldn't keep the ball? I know we won and I am happy that we beat the Scousers, but we got out of jail today. |

Its ok winning the ball but if you give it away (as Pulis said on his interview) then its worthless. |

I'll watch football first later and i'm pretty sure he made 1 good quality interception first half and 2 in the second. Those being his only real contributions. Whitehead fortunately for him was excellent. And I cant recall one pass with any accuracy. Get Palacios in for him. |

Delap has been a shocking distributor of a ball for years. I think he used to be a pretty decent defensive mid, but hes 34 and just doesnt get involved in possession whatsoever (these days). Fortunately im pretty sure Tone sees Palacios as his successor so its all good. |
