Most on here seem to think that his oppurtunities will be limited this season, with TP either going to go for Jones and Crouch or one of the above plus Jerome. He won't play on the right unless Pennant gets injured or suspended so where do you see him fitting in this season?

i think he'll start more games than people may expect.
tone doesn't forget the players who've done well for him, i'm sure jon will get plenty of game time

Competition for places will be a completely different phrase this season, where rotation of regulars actually takes place, as oppose to the competition pugh offered matty for lw. So, no striker will play every game, however once a preferred partnership is found that will become the one seen most often. I can see Walter' playing a fair few games this year, whether he is in the preferred partnership or not. He can fill in up front when people are tired/injured suspended/lost form. And can cover both wings. He will get a lot of game time.

I don't think that Jerome is at all a definite starter. If TP doesn't go for Crouch-Jones, but keeps one shorter striker on, then we'll probably see Walters getting a fair few games, maybe even as first choice for the position.

I just hope that he looks a bit sharper than he has so far. Not been too impressed with his recent form

I just hope that he looks a bit sharper than he has so far. Not been too impressed with his recent form A lack of a rest has affected his recent form, now we have 2 more strikers in and players will be rotated about more I think we'll see his form greatly improve as a result.

Is Walters actually that good though?

He's still our best, most consistent striker(unless crouch or Jerome can change that)

Is Walters actually that good though? He had a stellar second half of the season and overall, probably exceeded everyone's expectations. I think it would be a big ask for him to consistently hit those heights again but his ability to drop deep will (I suspect) see him get plenty of game time.

As mentioned already, tiredness has definitely played a factor, and you can't blame the bloke for being tired. Now Pulis can rotate him with our new signings then I can definitely see his form improving.

Weve got a bloody lot of games to play, i think all four strikers will get a fair crack of the whip, im looking forward to the reaction we get from jones and walters now weve got 2 very good deputys ready to come in, hopefully it will be good healthy competition

Were in four competitions and Pulis usually swaps his strikers at 7o minutes so they will all get game time.

If we play 4 4 1 1 still then he is surely first choice in the deep position. with the aquasition of Palacios maybe we will play 4 4 2 in some games in which case Jones and Crouch may play togrether. Away from home I have a feeling JW might replace Matty or Pennant for some games.

I'll be honest and say that Walters has proved me totally wrong. When he signed I thought he was average at best but he has been immense for us in certain games.
I wasn't sure that Jones and Crouch would work as they are very similar but im sure Pulis knows what Walters brings to the table and will utilise it to the full.

Our new additions will make a radical difference to us...player rotation is now actually viable and will (hopefully) see players getting a rest and returning to the field refreshed and eager to get stuck in!!

With marc injured . Glenn in Russia. Rory recovering maybe he will play the position of attacking midfielder with Palacios.

With marc injured . Glenn in Russia. Rory recovering maybe he will play the position of attacking midfielder with Palacios. Personally i don't see Pulis scrapping the cage My views on walters : Works hard constantly and has excellent stamina and comes to life in the later part of games and is a key man away from home. However at the moment he's looking tired and hence his perfomances have dropped so needs a rest. Also i don't see us dropping KJ and rightly so, he's scoring at the moment and i think crouch will play in every league game and big game outside of the league because of his price tag. Solution: Can Walters do a job at left back But in all seriousness i think we will/should use a rotation system depending on the opponent and whether home or away. Ooh we'll have an even bigger problem when ric's back it's a nice problem.

It will be interesting to see which players TP choses for the next 3 games in 8 days and which positions. I agree walters was looking tired . Im sure he is recharged. after the international matches. Ric injured, cameron says he is not match fit. it leaves KJ , PC , mama and hopefully a fit walters.
