Can't you just find the picture online, right click and 'Save Image As' ?

On XP and Internet Explorer 8 it is saved in C:\documents and settings\username\application data\Microsoft\Internet explorer\ the file is called "internet explorer wallpaper.bmp"
On windows 7 and internet explorer 9 you need look in C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\microsoft\ and is called the same
If you used firefox to save the image then it's called "desktop background.bmp" and located in C:\users\username\appdata\roaming\Mozilla\firefox\ or C:\documents and settings\username\application data\Mozilla\firefox\ depending on your os
If in doubt hit start > run. Type regedit, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop and then look for the value in Wallpaper key in the right hand pane. Whatever you do delete anything from here as it could mess your system up
