I didn't hear it, but I wouldn't read too much into what he said anyway - he keeps his cards close to his chest, and likes to bluff.
I wouldn't like to play poker with him!

He said he thought they had concluded a deal for someone earlier in the week but it hadn't happened. Didn't say why though!

I think it's great that we're not being bullied to pay over the odds for players. We'll be OK if we get no one else in as we still have JW and KJ up front and Matty and JP and they'll see us through the season. We're still unbeaten and in Europe. No worries as Mama, Ric and Higgy will be back by November.

"I think under the current regime with our over achieving we've gone as far as we can. Despite what most people have said PC being sensible is ultimately going to cost us our place in the Premiership whether it's this year on next. We just can't compete with 90 percent of other Premiership clubs and that's only going to mean one thing. I applaud PC's stance over wages however when no or very few other clubs support us it it's only going to mean one thing. It's nice to know that we're solvent however I think with the wages we're prepared to pay we're not big enough to be solvent in the Premiership with our pursestrings being more suited to being in the Championship which I happened to enjoy being in where there's proper teams with proper fans. Sadly after the second dissasterous window (I don't now think we'll get anyone else in) I think our luck will run out and we'll realise how lucky we've been with injuries so far. Unfortunately the saddest thing is that we'll be probably be replaced by a team that have been run completely the wrong way who don't seem to care about debt and wear claret and blue. Like life football has so many ups and downs and that's why I love supporting Stoke and not a Man U, Liverpool or Chelsea. Whatever happens and however bad things get there our club and we're not playing in a stadium named after a Saudi company and we've not sold out. "

There are players to be had who are good value e.g. Shane Long , Jamie Ohara, Seb Larrsson we seem to spend the summer chasing players that we can't afford and seem to rule out foreign players , hard to understand at times
