Stupid. They do that get booked and act all hard done by. That rule has been in place for ages now. I think it's a daft rule but thats not the point.

You have to remember that these were the thick lads at school, who were only any good at playing football. Shawcross picked up a stupid booking yesterday for kicking the ball away, Woodgate was already on a yellow so both our CBs were then having to watch what they were doing...DUH!

I fucking hate getting daft yellow cards. And the whole thing where we give away free kicks we don't have to.

its got to the best feeling in the world scoring a goal for your club, taking the shirt off is pure instinct, they aren't thinking rationally, they are ontop of the world! imagine if you scored a winner for us, id go absolutely mental!!id probably get completely naked and start trying to hump potterma id be so excited!!
its a rediculous rule that needs changing, who are they offending!?

Short arse outfield player in goal, opposition down to ten men and playing a team that are clearly inferior in quality to us.
Do you.
a) Send up the big guns and put the ball in the danger zone b) Send up one of the big guns and whip the ball in on target to see what happens c) Have a shot and see if the outfield player can cope d) Take a short free kick and try to waste time
They may be playing to TP's instructions so I may be being unfair to the players and it's not them being stupid, but option d) the one we chose didn't work, has never worked and doesn't look like it will ever work, we would waste more time by kicking it back to the goalie!
It may have been a masterplan to keep the tie alive and sell more tickets for the second leg I suppose!

It's a bullshit rule anyway. Why the fuck does it matter if they take their shirt off to celebrate? Fucking wank.

its a rediculous rule that needs changing, who are they offending!? The sponsors who pay money to have their name plastered across the shirt. It's to ensure they get 'maximum exposure'.

Of course it isn't!
Note how very few players take their shirts off if they score again.
The picture of Liam Lawrence above is much nearer to the truth.

I don't know why people get booked for it? Fair enough jumping in the crowd as this is potenially dangerous but taking your shirt off when you have just scored a goal? I agree with other posters I would go mental if I scored a goal in the premier league and espicially at Stoke!

Seem to recall it was another bright idea by the glorious leader (Blatter).
He felt that players removing their shirts might impact television rights sales to some of the Worlds more restrictive regimes and nothing should be allowed that reduced the opportunities for FIFA to line its pockets.

If it was a 90th minute winner or something, you can understand the excitement etc, but Doyle was just silly.

As a striker (and a lightweight one at that) a second yellow is unlikely.
Also, he'll get fined so if he's aware of the financial implications of his actions.
I guess that he'll also be aware that he won't accumulate enough yellows within a specific timeframe to warrant any kind of ban later on in the season.
Lastly, it's a shit rule. I don't see why it was introduced in the first place.

Stupid goal celebrations is just one thing I'd get rid of from the modern game. How many groundsmen wince when they see players sliding across the pitch to celebrate? How many physios wince when players jump on the goal scorers back? How many managers go nuts when a player gets booked for showing off his torso? Pillocks!! Don't even get me started on the feckin awful electronic adverts at the side of the pitch!

I'm not a footballer but there's loads of great feelings in the world and i've never had an 'instinct' to rip my shirt off and run round like a bellend. They're just ego fuelled idiots. Football has also been played for donkey's years and yet i never remember them doing it much until the last 15 years or so, so it's definitely not 'instinct'. 40 years ago they could have even done it without getting booked but they didn't. If it's instinct how do you explain that?
