What's with all this hatred by some airheads towards Port Vale? "I can't stand these inbred wankers, most of their supporters are vile people " "Call me a miserable bastard, but I fucking love seeing the Vale struggle. I despise them the horrible little dirty fuckers." Above are two quotes from another thread. Ask them why they hate the Vale and they'll probably give you a blank stare and say something like "my brain hurts" or "my IQ is the same as my shoe size" What has Port Vale ever done to you? I am a Stokie through and through, but still follow the news at Port Vale. I think it's great that Stoke-on-Trent has 2 teams in the league. Stoke could benefit greatly with an alliance with the Vale. Up and coming youngsters from the Stoke academy could get great experience by being loaned out to the Vale, and still be close the the Britannia. We should be proud of both teams

I agree, the Valeys get a lot of stick but they're generally alright to speak to as long as you've got a peg on your nose.

Your feelings towards the Vale largely depends on how old you are, and whether you were around when they were in the ascendancy.
I've no idea whether you were or not, but I'll never forget the fucking dog shit I used to have to listen to from some of their fans. I never want to go back to that, therefore I enjoy seeing them suffer.

I have no ill feeling to Vale or Crewe, mainly because they no longer threaten (and succeed) to achieve higher league positions than us. We have outgrown the rivalry.

I dont hate Port Vale football club however I have a healthy dislike for thier supporters, any club that attracts people who could assualt a lad with a terminal illness with months to live deserve to suffer and suffer long, anything that hurts them pleases me, if that includes thier team struggling so be it I for one hope they fall into administration and dissapear off the the face of the earth.

However, the shittier Vale get, the better we get, the less I care.

It can only be good for the area to have have two teams doing well, i always look out for the results , same with crewe to be honest.
Friendly banter is one thing, but hatred is ott, its just the idiots and keyboard warriors that hate them, i hope they do well.

I want Vale to do well but at the same time don't begrudge some Stokies hating them. At the end of the day their supporters hate our football club and they always will. They would love to see us fail even if it was to the detriment of the whole region. Going on about some sort of feeder club partnership and all that is just a ridiculous thing to seriously envisage. I wouldn't want any of our 18 year old prospects having to go there and get vindicated before even kicking a ball.

Do you remember the term " Potteries Premier Team " which was the way they described themselves during the ( thankfully ) short time when they were in the ascendancy. I can't ever recall that expression being used during the zillion years or so that we were the dominant force, that says it all for me!

We are only a small city....we should help each other out in whatever way we can.
Some peoples ego's need a reality check. We live in one of the most economically deprived areas in the country. We seem more than happy kicking a man when he's down ...
I don't subscribe to that mentality....and what's more I never will.
Enjoy the good times ....but dont forget nothing lasts forever.

Vale fans hate Stoke City more than they love Port Vale.
Vale fans enjoy a Stoke defeat more than they do a Vale win.
So don't hate Port Vale, pity them.

With respect that's just a ridiculous daft statement to make. I know a couple of ex Stoke players who watch Port Vale week in ,week out... They also watch Stoke...They are not bitter and twisted.

I dont hate Vale, i dont care about them. We have outgrown them and having bigger fish to fry if i'm honest. However, i dont like how SOME Vale fans are obessed with us and want to see us fail so much its worrying so when i have Vale mates who are like that i enjoy watching them fail every year.

For me its fuck all more than the fact that I was bullied by the dirty wankers when I was at school because they were temp in a higher league, dont fool yourselves if we fell flat on our arse they would take great delight, as i would if they were somehow kicked out of the league. wankers the lot of em.

Its always been this way hasn't it? Its the natural order of things, yeah it is tribal so what? Football is by its very nature tribal, always has been! Do you imagine that there is a similar thread to this on OVF? Have we forgotton Vale fans in Man City tops on cup final day? It is true to say that they aren't really on our radar any more, so who then are our rivals? difficult to make a case for Wolves, too distant. Same with all Brum clubs. Pretty sure that the 2 Manc clubs dont see us as rivals. So who's left ? Logically its our old pals at Fail Park.
