in charge of what? I think you'll find his daughter Denise is the brain behind bet 365 and is the principle of their group of companies. Sir peter is the chairman of stpke city fc but i'm not sure who is the main share holder of rhe scfs holding company.

It's John Coates. He is director and shareholder in Bet365, think he's also director of Stoke.

Won't be Denise I don't think, she spends far too much time at bet365 to even think about Stoke.
Saint Peter goes in about 3 days a week, no idea about the son.

I loathe nepotism, I understand it but I loathe it. Nepotism in what way........ Peter hasn't hired Denise and John, they started Bet365 themselves and have built it up to what it is today themselves...... he just provided the funding to get it up and running. They are the majority shareholders and if it wasn't for them making it what it is today Stoke and Peter wouldn't have the finances they do. If it was your company putting large chunks of money into a football club wouldn't you want to have a seat on the board, whether it was run by your father or not.

Dickie is a Director withe responsibility for the infrastructure at The Brit (qualified Engineer). It helps that he is Denise's husband of course ???

To answer the original poster, none of Coates's sons is in charge of the Football club - that remains Peter himself. I suppose it is possible/probable that one of them may become Club Chairman one day if/when Peter steps down.
Richard Smith, Denise's husband (Peter's son in law) is a director on the Club board with responsibility for progressing the capital works - and so far these have included the development of Clayton Wood and the recent work on improvements at the stadium, shop and ticket office.
As far as nepotism is concerned, for a family business (which both Bet365 and Stoke City effectively are) it makes sense that family members are employed in positions of responsibility - so long as they are competant to do the job. I don't think you'd find many people who would say that the Coates family members working as executive directors at Bet365 and Stoke City are not doing a good job.

Richard Smith thats the one. Dickie needs to up his game. The upgraded shop seems to be confined to adding a back door and improvements to the ticket office appear to be extending the plastic roof a bit

I am very surprised to see that Plympton does not know that Peter Coates only has one son
I know John and, as far as I am aware, he has no plans to involve himself with the running of Stoke in the near future

I'd still prefer a bigger shop separate from the stadium but the new shop is a big improvement on the old one. The new "post office" style queuing system should speed things up - now can we have the same system at the food outlets in the concourses please?

Must admit the shop looks much better now but the staff are still fairly useless from my own experience of waiting ages despite no queue and the girl behind the counter telling me the till had gone crazy

Swampy, please do not refer to Dickie as Dickie, he now likes to be called Richard!
To me me he'll always be a Dick(ie)!
The reason nowt is happening at Stoke is because Richard spends most of his time at the cricket!

What a stupid thread. look at the big picture. offspring not doing too bad in business. Football is a business and has to take away too much emotional ties. SCFC is in a fantastic position compared to other Premier league clubs. Jealousy is a terrible thing.

PISS TAKE OR WHAT? Is that true milton (giff the kit man), when did this happen, must be fairly recently, gutted for him if true, he is stoke through and through. used to work with giff on rists where he worked in the metal stores, had us in stitches most days, very sad news cos he must be good for morale around the dressing room ???
