Can't help but think that the odds are stacked against us in Croatia on Thursday and this is likely to be the only time many people ever see us in Europe. The fact we had no striker on the bench last week and resorted to putting a full back up there is plain embarrassment when Pulis has had two months knowing the situation to do something. 1-0 simply wasn't enough, Stoke's atmosphere is supposed to intimidate opposition players and we see week in week out how sh*te Stoke are away from home, with Splits atmosphere being 10x ours you have to expect the same thing to happen. I just think it will be a massive disappointment if we go out on Thursday and the main reason will be because we haven't signed anyone.
EDIT: For all the clever people who realise that Pulis got us to Europe, It doesn't mean he has the right to chuck it out the window, just as I'm sure if we got into the Premierleague, signed nobody and went down, you'd all be moaning then. PLUS I was asking a question hench the '?' so don't go thinking i'm slashing at my wrists i'm just stating that we are MORE THAN LIKELY to lose on thursday...

Pulis helped plan the seed to get the Euro dream started
Do you think if he had say Man City's, Chelsea's, Liverpool's or one of the top team's finances, he just might have signed someone? He has limited budget and wants to get the best deals he can with the money available. That does kind of suck, and may hurt the Euro dream, but I think the title of the post is a bit over the top.
If a player won't take the wages offfered, hard to say it is all Pulis's fault. I tust we will get some good players, albeit later than we all want.

I share the OP's fears about the striker situation biting us on the arse on thursday, but theres a fair chance it won't even become an issue.

I disagree in the strongest possible terms. It's fairly plain to see that we could have bought players in by now but it would have been on terms that were more than we thought reasonable. We might get knocked out of Europe and that would be a shame but we'd be a damn site worse off if we were paying mercenary fuckbuckets like Can't Control more than is reasonable.
I'm amazed that we're in Europe and it's ace and all, but the long-term stability of the club is a prize of far greater reckoning.

I think that if we do lose on Thursday it will be less to do with TP and more to do with the financial restraints that have been placed upon him
The danger is - Do we see TP do a 'Liverpool awayesque' protest by playing a shit defensive 11 that will lead us to being knocked out ??
In some ways, if we do, I dunner blame him

That's a bit of a "grenade lobbed into a crowd" sort of a post, Mr League. I am guessing you will get at least 50 responses.
I am just about the most pessimistic supporter I know. Not so much glass half-empty. More "the glass will shatter and I will be showered with shards, one of which may well pierce an artery". But even I think 1-0 is a decent result. Could have been better, but crikey it could have been worse.
Mr Ladbroke, incidentally, suggests that the odds are with us.
Having said all of that, I think we may well go out. But it wd not be the end of the world.

I just think it will be a massive disappointment if we go out on Thursday and the main reason will be because we haven't signed anyone. We didn't just beat Hajduk at home, we battered them. They hardly had a sniff and we could have easily won 5-0 on another night. Shotton originally started out as a striker so he's a better option than you'd think at this point. We score 1 goal away and we're effectively through thanks to away goals at least. We won our first European game for 37 years. We played some better football in the first half so there's no reason we won't try it away from home. There's so many positives to take from the game last Thursday.

i saw enough last week to convince me we will score in croatia, at the back they looked quite weak, without wanting sound like pulis imo 1st half we created enough opportunities to put the tie to bed, technically they looked ok, as i expected but begovic didnt have a single save make! an early huth header will soon finish the tie

It hasn't half made a mess of my Chinos!

All of this pessimism is based on people's assumptions that they will be better at home. True they can knock the ball around a bit and their football is probably a bit better than ours but they created next to nothing. Doesn't it all sound a little bit like...............................

Having spent the best part of 600 quid on the trip, all I ask is that we go out there and play positively with the players that we have available.
It will be difficult but there is absolutely no reason why we can't come away with the result that we need. I just hope that our approach is more Tottenham away than Liverpool away from last season.
The original post is a tad over the top to say the very least and as someone else has said, could end up looking very silly come Friday.
EDIT - If we do lose, I would blame the FA Cup Final defeat more than lack of signings. Had we won, we would have entered the competition later and subsequently have been more likely to have new signings in our ranks. We all know, and I don't know why people continue to moan, that Pulis will leave it as late as possible to make new signings. We are no different this year than in any other!

These 'Financial Restraints' have meant us NOT signing Carlton Cole, for that I am thankful, whereas our Transfer budget and Wage budget is still higher than quite a few premierleague clubs. There is so many players that would of improved our squad that have moved to other clubs with the same or less budget than us; Eagles, Reo Coker, Pratley and Mears to Bolton, Taylor to West Ham, Vaughan to Sunderland, Routledge to Swansea, Gera to West Brom, Paul Konchesky to Leicester, Demba Ba to Castle, Bothroyd to QPR, O' Hara to WOLVES! the list goes on and on... Nobody can tell me that if we made the move we couldn't of got any of those players...

Shit!!! I must been knocked out and missed the last 48 hours. If TP has fucked our european dream i assume we are already knocked out of the competition and not just hysterically overreacting with a 1-0 lead against an extremely average side with the tie only at the half way point.

I happen to think that £1.50 is about right for a pint, but the going rate is nearer three quid. I need the beer, so I pay the money! If I shared Coates's ideals, I'd be pintless! ;D

what a suprise.
Tony Pulis guides us to pemier league security and Fa Cup Final. Tony Pulis guides us to Europe as a result. Tony Pulis picks a winning side for the home leg and avoids conceding away goal.
What an absolute fuck up. Jesus fucking christ.

Well some definitely would + its not just the starting 11... On thursday we're more than likely to Have Delap on the Left, and left with no striker on the bench again so IF, we fall behind and need a goal, We can do NOTHING about it.
