In what way did Pulis mean?
With Europe only 13 days away and a squad with no back up options (decent ones) It's like watching us in away games this transfer window.

As opposed to what though we've been in the prem for hardly any time so why do we think we should be competing with the top six already ?

Well not me Bayern I can honestly say that as we start this season I will still look forward to securing 40 points

I can't say I look forward to that because I'd be lying but if we finish 17th, I'll be ok with that. Our aim should be to see if we can break into the top 10 though. It's the natural step if things go well and not that out of this world unachievable. Top 6 is mental and I can't say I've seen anyone on here suggest it. David Vaughan did for Sunderland, the daft twat! ;D

I think the idea now is to go for younger players and invest in the academy while maintaining our Premier League status.

Pulis made a big mistake talking about the 3 year plan in the first place. At the time surviving in the premier league sounded optimistic and i dont think many people expected us to be where we are now.

I just joined the Oatcake to make this very point. I am so angry at the moment; Pulis lied to us about having a three year plan, he's only got one plan and its the same today as its always been. Don't get me wrong, its served us well, but if you tell everyone who supports you your plan will start to develop in three yearstime, you'd better do it, or you look an idot, the club looks pathetic and the fans will begin to become disillusioned. Its not good enough that we are being linked with the same style of players that we already have, thats not pushing on, its remaining the same. We need to bring in a decent midfielder and some genuine side backs. If we buy strikers then surely we shouldn't be buying proven goal missers? Come on Pulis, time to push on.

Lots of fans seem to be extremely happy with just staying as we are - the whole premier thing is still a new, shiny toy and the batteries haven't run out yet,

I don't think many of us are 'extremely' happy I just think that along with this whole 3 year plan thing as we have progressed I think we have come to realise the premier league is a strange animal especially when it comes to transfers. Because let's face it Peter Coates and his family are extremely astute business people, but I think even they at times have been made to look amateurish by how business is done in the premier.

This is the most ridiculous thread I have read for a long time.
The three year plan was to stay in the league and become an established team. Would anybody like to argue that SCFC have failed in that?
We will no doubt be competing for top 10 this year. The last thing SCFC look is amateurish!
Have you seen the facilities recently? Particularly the Academy and the whole new setup down there to bring new players through? Have you been supporters long enough to remember what it was like pre-premier league.
Some people need to get real.

Totally agree stanners my wording wasn't probably the best all I meant by amateurish was how things sometimes get reported in the media e.g flying people in and not signing them but have all over sky for instance. It wasn't meant as a criticism of the Coates family as I have been supporting long enough to remember where we have come from and am 100% behind our club. Great point about the academy and training facilities they are now both first class.

Gordon Bennett! I am sure there is a "look how far we have............." comment in there somewhere, when the cause of such anger and outrage is that the manager hasn't dispensed a bit of management speak or a few glib phrases to satisfy the masses.

Bloody hell.
Imagine what you'd all be like if you supported a team that wasn't going through a fantastic period...
