Has apparently handed in a transfer request at Huddersfield with Norwich reportedly bidding £1.8 million. Worth a punt?

He's been previously linked with us hasn't he? He had a superb season last-season, looks a good prospect.

Yeah he has. £1.8m is a lot for a League One player but it's better than some of the prices being banded about.

It's pretty steep, but as you say there's been some far crazier prices quoted in this window so far.
We could certainly do with some cover for both flanks to avoid having to play a make-shift winger out there like we did when Pennant or Matty got injured last-season. Pretty sure Pilkington can play on either flank too so he'd ideal in that respect.

He's coming back from an ankle and leg break too, so there are certainly lots of question marks over him. We need some bugger to cover though.

Is he any better than Ben Marshall ??

Not a clue would be my honest answer to that. But they played in the same league and both did well in that league. Pilkington is 3 years older too. And they're both coming back from very similar injuries I think. From the little I've seen of Marshall he looks very good, both footed, bit of pace and can cross, shame he got injured last season. He could have got a few games after the final.

I`m hopeful that Marshall will see some game time for us this coming season. He is a player I rate highly. If he doesn`t break through this year, then hopefully we can loan him out to a Championship club to finish off his development.

I think he'll go out on loan to a Championship side unless one of Ethers/Pennant get injured. But when is he due back from injury? That could be a deciding factor on what happens ie a long/short loan etc.

I went college with pilky, him and his brother both fantastic players, good range of passing and eye for goal, maybe a big leap though to prem

That could be a deciding factor on what happens ie a long/short loan etc. Well according to his trusty Facebook account, he was back at training last week and got level 13 on the MSFT (Bleep Test). I'd say his injury has healed rapidly.

I'd say his injury has healed rapidly. That's encouraging. It'd be nice if he forced his way into the first-team picture. If he did impress Pulis, he'd be ideal cover for both wings. The Carlisle manager seemed to think he was definitely good enough to feature in the Prem for us. www.carlisleunited-mad.co.uk/roll/ed15/ben_marshall__radio_cumbria_interview_668515/index.shtmlJP
It is good to hear, looking at him you could tell that he didn't mean to injure you but it still didn't make the tackle look any better. Have you got any idea on when you are expected to be back playing?
BM
It is quite good timing, about 12 weeks, well it has already been a couple. I should be back just in time for pre-season but I have got to go in to Stoke over the summer and get my strength back in my legs, my right leg with being on crutches, so there is not going to be much moving about.
JP
What about your future? I was just going to say, has Tony Pulis spoken to you about next season yet?
BM
No, I saw him when I went back into Stoke after Wembley and he rang me today. We are basically just going to see once this gets sorted, going to obviously get fit again and see where I go from there. But, he sounds quite confident, if I get myself fit and I look right then he might give me a chance, but you have just got to see what happens and hopefully my main priority is just getting back right to how I was, and hopefully I will get a chance.
JP
There is a sort of a split of opinion at the moment with Carlisle fans, who all of them wish you the absolute best and really do hope you can make it with Stoke in the Premier League, but on the other hand they are maybe hoping that you will have one more season with the club. It must be a funny one for you to know which way to turn at the moment?
BM
it is weird, because I have spent nearly a season and a half and I have loved it, but I have got to....... It is like anyone, you have got to try and progress and hopefully I can progress in a higher level, hopefully. But, you never know what it is around the corner and there could be a chance that I have to go back and play for Carlisle, which I would love to. But, you have just got to wait and see what your options are first.

www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11719_7013319,00.html Leicester after him as well. Who's taken them over - Bill Gates? They're expecting that Mackail-Smith to sign over the weekend too. Looks like they're going to have the biggest C'ship wage bill, by an absolute mile
