I conner see that many people turning out for some of these Uefa cup games. Mid week, may be toss kick off times and against a team of Johny Foreigners that we don't know what country they are from let alone who they are.
Only if the club reduce the addmition prices by at least 50% will there be a decent enough crowd. To many games with to little money in Stoke on Trent.

A nice last 16 tie against Rangers or Celtic would be nice. But that League thing will be rubish. Even if we are in a division with Juventus or a like they will only feild a sencond side of unkown players

If we dont aspire to be in Europe, then whats the point in us doing well in the Premier League?

If we dont aspire to be in Europe, then whats the point in us doing well in the Premier League? thats the problem, it has become an irrelevance dont get me wrong it is great for the club to be in europe but the competition isnt a good one anymore ffs clubs get in for "fair play" the old format of uefa, cup winners and european cups was better. this europa league is just the scraps of the champions league the greed of the big clubs have destroyed this tournament a lot of our games will now be sunday kick offs at stupid times more than normally, i just hope it doesnt affect our league form

Whilst I agree the competition is somewhat diminished, it is a major notch in our progression.
It will, if we get through the early rounds, promote SCFC across Europe, hopefully attracting a better player. It will also help with our scouting network.
Equally it will probably quicken our recruitment strategy to add more strength and depth this season as we play on many fronts. It may also encourage TP to play a couple of the fringe youngsters and bring them on at SCFC. But of course TP's focus will alwys be, quite rightly the Prem.
Albeit not the Champions League, we, SCFC are back in Europe - never would I have believed that. I get to take my son to European games - how brilliant is that!
We are in it, so please try and enjoy it, I know I will.

They made it a league format to help filter money into the smaller nations. So instead of the weaker teams getting just 1-2 games worth of money, they are guaranteed money while they are in the groups stages of the tournament (which in theory should make the smaller countries stronger.)
It is a pain in the arse yes, but if we as supporters just want to finish between 8th and 17th every year we will soon get bored of it. If we want to progress then we must be aiming for Europe on a regular basis.

I expect it to be very, very low on our list of priorities. A bit like the autoglass trophy with extra travel.
The league is everything, followed by the FA cup, the league cup( not many games and a chance to play at Wembley) and then the Europa League.

As with the season, I expect us to see the 3 cup competitions as a chance of silverware and really go for it. Uncle Peter is very keen that we win something under his leadership and he is not getting any younger.
The problem is to keep an even keel in the Prem.

I seem to be a real minority here but I can't bloody wait! After years of losing to Rochdale or Luton at home the chance to now see us competing with teams across Europe is unbelievable and an honour. We need to realise what an achievement it is for a club our size

I think the fact Lord that you won't know who the teams are is more of an admittence of your ignorance rather than the teams being widely unknown.
I for one am thrilled for a fresh campaign. It certainly proves our progression and a chance to play some great teams. So what if we have to play some teams that maybe don't excite the masses, along the way?
The Premier League format is as stale as the CL and Europa league at the moment. No real positions to play for and the only excitement is who will stay up. I actually believe we can do quite well in Europe rather than make the numbers up and if people can't be arsed to turn up for that then whats the point in supporting SCFC?

Being in Europe for the first time since the 70s is brilliant.
If we do rubbish in the Europa League, I'm sure it will piss us off.
If we do well, we'll love it.
And if it helps us raise the profile of the club and bring in better players, so much the better.

I remember the home games against Ajax and Kaiserslautern as a young lad, and the sheer disappointment and frustration when we were knocked out. We're in it, so let's have a right go at going as far as we can.
