Phil Jones is good, however, Smalling is dreadful and the only time he looks half decent is when he's along side Vidic. I don't care what the media say, he looks fucking gash to me.
Phil Jones/Ryan/Cahill are the best English CB prospects IMO.
Jones is quite a bit younger than the other two though, he'll be a cracking player I think.

he is 19 and will become better than Ryan. He is likely to be a captain of England in a few years

Cracking signing for Man Utd Not as good as if they'd have got Ryan to sign a new deal four years ago though!

Maybe being a Man Utd back up player would have hampered his development? Theres a good arguement that playing so many games for Stoke has made him the player he is today

Don't get me wrong I'm delighted they've signed him and Smalling instead of re-signing Ryan, even if it doesn't make any sense at all. If they value a lad who has played 34 games at £16m, God only knows what Ryan is worth working on their theories. ??? Perhaps that's it, they couldn't afford Ryan!
