It appears he wants out of Spurs due to a lack of first-team football, obviously we'd face competition for him but I think he'd be a realistic possibility for us. www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/may/19/sebastien-bassong-spurs-heaven-hellI know some would argue it's another square peg in a round hole because he has played most of his career at centre-back, but he is left-footed, and he has played at left-back for different clubs in the past. To be honest Marc Wilson has been very good at left-back, but I still think it's an area we should be looking to strengthen in the summer if we can. Worth a bid?

How long ago is it since he played left back, Luke. Has he played there since he moved to England?

'Arry, transfers, barge, touch, pole, wouldn't' springs to mind sadly

I'd be happy with Bassong as cover for Huth & Shawcross which defeats the object if he wants regular 1st team football. As a left back - no thanks!

How long ago is it since he played left back, Luke. Has he played there since he moved to England? I'm sure he's played the odd game at left-back for Spurs, John. He's definitely played at left-back for Newcastle.

I'd rather we bought an actual left back. If we're not going to do that we might as well stick with Higgy/Wilson.

The obvious answer is Stephen Warnock, could we not use Bassong for the League/FA Cup as well as the UEFA Europa League? He wants matches and Huthy/Ryan will need to be rested sometime, I think it makes perfect sense.

Would prefer Wilson/Higginbotham to Bassong at left back. If we're going to sign someone we need to sign an out and out full back or no one at all and stick with Higgy and Wilson.

Getting a good additional CB, to replace Abdy and the injured Higgy, is going to be tricky this summer, when they know they'd be coming into a club where the first choice 2 are exceptional.
There could be a few good 'uns on the move and 'available' though - Roger Johnson, Scott Dann, James Tomkins, Sebastian Bassong.

Bassong would be a good signing but not for left back
