Hate to admit it but Mancini got Citeh to out STOKE Stoke ,chasing harrying, closing down, giving no time on the ball allied with quick slick passing, well the last part maybe isn`t Stoke but it worked. Will go to work monday head held high and proud of the performance of both the team and supporters a day to remember and a monkey of our backs. Remember we have been to a f.a.cup final for the first time and look likely to get our highest premier league finish with europe a bonus,be proud

He got it right and they deserved it. We offered nothing in attack and it was only a matter of time before they scored.
If we had our usual team playing there's no way we would have lost.

he didnt get anything rite, we were playing with 9 men, its a huge ask to cover wembley against a quality side like them on a pitch that big..they won fair and sqr, no arguments with that, but it was to do with the quality of the players available to him, not his tactics

It turned into a typical stoke away performance, that coupled with the fact we had 4 or 5 key players either out injured or visibly carrying injuries, I'm no so sure you can credit Mancini with any tactical masterstrokes.

Etherington was a passenger for an hour, bar that pass to Kenwyne. He was clearly only 50% fit, I still think it was right to start him, but it didn't pay off in the end. Huth didn't look right either, although he looked in better nic than Etherington.

no it was not right to start etherington - he was looking done for after 15 minutes and offered no outlet with the ball. piss poor call by pulis and he should have been off at half-time. danny pugh or whitehead may not have the same offensive abilities, but its better to have mobile players on the pitch.
were were crap yesterday, 5 or 6 players didn't turn up and that was let us down. whether it was the occasion or the fact that we were simply outplayed i dont know. what i do know is that delap, walters, jones, huth, etherington and whelan to some extent were all below par.
what needs to happen now is for pulis to realise delap is no longer mobile enough for this level i said it weeks ago when we lost at spurs, he just doesn't cover the same ground he used to.

Citeh showed they've grown a pair to match their physicality.
We weren't anywhere near 100% but they stood strong and are growing as a team...

I don't think Mancini outthought Pulis at all. Nor do I think our players put in an under-par performance. Injuries finally took their toll and we were playing a team with some very good players in it. It was that 'one step too far' for us against a team of mostly top class footballers who are now beginning to play as a team. The fact that we held them for most of the game is a tribute to those who wore our colours, and then it took two unfortunate deflections before they could score. But I always felt there was only going to be one winner even though their goal was fortunate.
I'm gutted and disappointed we didn't win, but I'm in no way disheartened. Well done all the lads, and the manager.
OS.

Some nonsense on here. it was right to start Etherington for this left foot alone gives us options, like our one real chance. our players weren't below par, they were outplayed. jones was one on two against Kompany in particular who is world class both on the ball and strength wise. Whelan and Delap are average at this level and were against an Englnad player, a World Cup finalist and an ex-Barcelone player. Walters is also decent but was against players that are stronger, quicker and more skilful. We were always going to be hoping for a break but people around me seemed to think we should be winning 3-0 after 30 minutes. What did Huth do wrong ? I suspect it was am immense effort for him to play and we shouldmpraise him for that.

OS - fair points mate, they are a £300 million team so lets not get carried away, milner and adam johnson on the bench! however my point is that we didnt put more than 4 passes together all game, gave the ball away very cheaply when we rarely had possession, didnt support the forwards and didnt really give 100% an attribute that has served stoke so well under pulis. injuries or no injuries those players who were not fit should not have played and it was a disappointing performance in arguably the biggest game in stoke city history. joe hart had one routine save to make and that sums the game up for me, we were never going to win it unless we nicked a goal from a half chance.

With all the money the thick bastard has spent it is about time he got something right. Nice to see the twat was his usual magnaminous self and next time they win a cup it might be a bit more classy if he breaks off from his celebrations for a few minutes to respect the losing side when they collect their medals

Mancini has an option as to whether he plays two attacking full backs, two defensive full backs or a mixture of the two. He has the option of whether to play two holding midfielders, or one.
He also has the option of leaving Adam Johnson on the bench, amidst others.
All of the options he has are World class players in their respective positions and some have represented their countries in World Cup finals.
This season, he has actually underperformed. If you want to compare how both managers have done yesterday then give them the same players and options. Alex Ferguson would have walked the league with that squad of players.

Remember that he dropped a striker (Dzeko) yesterday that cost more than our starting 11 put together.

I am still not convinced by Mancini or Man City as a team. They were poor against Spurs at home and no great shakes yesterday. I dreaded going one nil down as I knew we would not break them down.Toure and De Jong are real powerhouses in Midfield and they can also put out Milner and Barry although I think Barry is shite and I actually thought Whelan did ok against them. They have a top class keeper and Teves up front. But they are no Manure or even Chelsea in their pomp. They have a long way to go and I think Mancini wont last.
