It was clear to me almost from the start, that Ethers was not fit enough to be on the pitch and in the first half we played with 10 men only. I think TP erred here, and perhaps should have put Danny Pugh on the left midfield from the start.
Huth, apart from his "sending-off-worthy" smack on Balotelli, looked OK though.
Still, no arguments, the best team on the day won, fair and square, albeit with a lucky deflection helping their goal.

Just like Beckham in 2002, was fit but wouldn't risk busting a gut.

pfft!! Just think of how good we will be when we have cover for the flanks, top transfer priority - players for the flanks!
Next season Gents!

What I meant was he was fit enough to play a match, but for a game like this you need to find your 110% and it was too much to ask of the lad.

We knew he wasn't 100% before the game, but i think TP was still right to start him, worth the gamble given the alternative, in hindsight it didn't pay off, Ethers was pretty anonymous save for that pass to kenwyne.

Although he clearly wasn't fit I still think it was worth risking him. Even when he went off it was still nil nil, it's not as if he played and made a massive mistake to gift them a goal or anything is it. Definitely a gamble worth taking IMO.
