Now this only what I have heard, and have not seen in writting.
Which current league side, unsuccessfully applied to enter the Scottish league during the 1960's, dispite being based a very long way from the border ?

Seem to remember they were pissed off because they couldn't get into the Football League or something like that.
Twas back in those bad old days of 're-election' ... the only thing that kept Crewe a League side for years (got votes coz their ground is so close to a train station is my best guess!)

Maybe they should have let them join then there would be room for one more real football team in the English league instead of them egg chasers who say they have a pier but are miles from the sea.
