Stoke 26% Arse 74%
Translated, Stoke's 26% equated to positive attacking football and Arse's 76% was dull tippy tappy, let's bore the crowd to death with our sideways passing, let's try to score the perfect goal, cure for insomnia, shit football.
I know what I prefer to watch.......
Goarnnnn Stoke........

Very strange, BBC has the stats as 47% Stoke 53% Arsenal.

That sounds more realistic to what we saw at the game. It amazes me how different the press get these stats. Either way it equates to a great 3 points.

"lies, damn lies and statistics...................."
Teams like Arsenal have to use possession stats to fall back on when they go back to The Smoke with their dicks between their legs after losing to those nasty men from The Potteries.
If you got points for possession they'd be the team of the fucking century!

I think sky mistakenly put the stats for the Barcelona Arsenal game at the Nou Camp because it certainly wasn't the game I saw yesterday.

Skys stat a couple of minutes before half-time:
Last 10 minutes possession: 69% stoke - 31% arsenal. Incredible!

One of my mates from University worked for one of these statto compilers as part of his first job in the media.
At the time, he said that the stats were made up based on a general understanding of the game.
I would say possession was somewhere in the region of 40-60 yesterday, but we used our possession brilliantly whereas they bored us all to death with their ballerina style play that went nowhere.
The end result saw us beat Jellyfish United 3-1. Happy days! ;D

Possession is one of the most worthless stats there is in football. People really do get too hung up about it. It's what you do with the ball that counts, not how long you have the ball. Arsenal are the archetypal example of that. Yesterday, they tippy tapped with no end result. Stoke were happy to let them do it but as soon as they came into the final third we were into them, grabbed possession and broke fast. I really love the way Pulis has developed us as a counter attacking team!
Stoke had a game plan against Arsenal and it worked a treat. It was not a plan based on possession. We scored 3 goals they scored 1. That's the only stat that counts! ;D
