has come true.
First time since we signed him where I (his biggest critic) can say we saw glimpses of an unplayable striker. Still needs a goal today. Thought he was average first half, but was excellent for large periods of the second. We need to see more of this for more of the game. If it takes him another 8 months to produce this then hes no use and we may as well get rid. If this is the start of things to come then great.
Well done Kenwyne, you earnt your cheque this week .
As for Walters today, it was a quite unbelievable performance. He was truly unplayable today, and the Chelsea defenders couldnt really get near him. So much more to him than this functional machine that many seem to think he is.
I think after today its fair to say we can put the "championship player at best" myth behind us. He has been instrumental in our success this season, and is remarkably improving every game.
Also what an awesome free kick by Wilson. Deserved a goal. Solid game by pretty much every player. Possibly the joint best game I've ever seen along with the Villa match back in 2008. Very proud of the club. Pulis is a magician.

It was a slightly odd showing from him, he was pretty anonymous in the first half (although his work rate was much better again) but I thought he was tremendous in the second half and really gave their back-line a massive headache.

He was absolutely superb today. His hold up play was brilliant, a few misplaced passes but there's not a player in the world that doesn't do the same, worked incredibly hard and was magnificent in our box. Was talking to the guy next to me at the ground and we agreed the one thing that he's lacking is a bit of nastiness. He never really crashes a man with his shoulder when challenging for a ball, and always seems so soft for a big man. But if he had that I suppose he wouldn't be playing for us.

Good on ya Kenwyne, he had the measure of that cheating scumbag Terry today. Feel once he scores he'll go on a good run like he did a the start of the season...

I agree that the big fella was excellent today. I was so willing him to score to put the icing on the cake. Keep your head up KJ. His performances have been much better of late and he caused Terry all sorts of problems today. He needs a bit of luck in front of the goal but he's looking much, much brighter. In fact, things are looking very, very good for Stoke all round. I thought Ashley Cole was made to look 'average' today and it was a very tough game for Chelsea. Every player was excellent today.

It was by no means a perfect performance from Jones. At times he gave the ball away needlessly in the first half, and possibly should have scored, but the intent was there and he showed good ability today. Second half he really was a handful.

Was it ever a myth? I mean he may not have shown it with us but he has shown it before with Sunderland. Great today, he just needs to do it more consistently. David Luiz, who the fook is he?

Judging by his performances over the past 8 months for Stoke, it was a myth, but we saw evidence yesterday to suggest differently. He still has a long way to go though.

Terry and Luiz.....sounds like a road trip girly film! They have been jizzed over in the press as being an amazing combination. They were made to look very silly yesterday by Jones Walters and Fuller.I doubt they enjoyed their experience one bit.

Jones has has to start to learn how to adapt to a completely different style of play and a new set of requirements required. He needs time.
It is perhaps no coincidence we have seen the best from him during a half where we played the best football we have produced since we returned to the top fligtht.

It was John Terry who named Kenwyne as the most difficult forward he'd played against in the Prem a while back.

Sunderland fans used to reckon he only played well in the warmer times ie early season and late season so if thats the case we have 9 good performances from him until the end of the season.

Kenwyne Jones has played well ever since he has joined this club, even on the days when the vast majority of the supporters have deemed his performances as unacceptable. He is a very different player that this club has not had before and that this club needs to move on from what we were years ago to what we need in the future.
He is a target man who requires a certain type of service. With Mama Sidibe we could get away with poor service because we knew he would chase lost causes all day long. Quite often he would turn poor passes into good passes because of the ground he would make up. Thats fine up to a point but you eventually reach a time when you need a bit more from other players. Kenwyne Jones is a player who drags that out of your team. He won't chase lost causes and he won't turn poor passes into good passes but he will turn quality passes into goalscoring chances.
Players like Kenwyne Jones expose weak area's of your team and allow the manager to assess it and correct it. Since Jones has gone through his bad patch, the manager has blamed it on personal problems but has removed the right back and replaced him with a player who puts in quality balls to the forwards, improved Danny higginbothams game by dropping him for a player who is better on the ball but defensively weaker (since Higginbotham has returned we have seen slightly more quality on the ball) and removed our workhorse in midfield for one who works slightly less but is more composed on the ball.
In short, I think Jones has done more for this club than meets the eye.
