4PM UPDATE: LAWRENCE'S COVENTRY HOPES FADING Be the first reader to comment on this story
LIAM Lawrence's hopes of being sent to Coventry with Stoke on Saturday appear to be fading.
Tony Pulis sounded less than optimistic today when weighing up the chances of Lawrence returning from the groin strain sidelining him against Crystal Palace on Monday.
"He certainly hasn't trained today," said Pulis. "We'll leave it as late as possible, then take it from there.
"It's not just his goals, but his set-plays and the quality going into the box.
"Unfortunately, the strain is on the right-hand side of his groin and so he is obviously going to aggravate it every time he kicks the ball.
"If not this week, then hopefully he?'l be fit for the Bristol City game next week."
Meanwhile, Pulis has praised Jon Parkin's attitude to being one of only two senior players - along with long-term injury vicitim Marlon Broomes - in yesterday's reserve defeat at Bradford City.
Acknowledging Parkin's failure to hold down a regular first-team spot this term, he stated: "I was hoping Jon would come in and take the bull by the horns, but it hasn't happened.
"But he?s a great lad and gave it a real go in the reserves. Mark O'Connor (reserve boss) was very pleased with his attitude." Surely we won't see Cresswell again?

It's bound to be Cresswell in that case.
Shit.

Bothroyd would be my choice, but he can't play if we have Nash, Riggott, Pearson and Ameobi starting, as seems likely.
The other option is to start Dicko or Griff at left back, freeing Pugh to play in his proper position of centre mid, and push Rory across to the right. That would be preferable to watching Cresswell huff and puff his way, to no great effect, down the touchline.

I'd bring in Simo for Nash and play Bothroyd. You'd think Pulis would go for the Delap-Pugh-Whelan-Pearson option though. Unless he sticks with Cresswell.

TP gets all sweaty at the thought of Cresswell working ard down the wings to no avail.

Drop nash, Put Simo in goal, and Bothroyd to replace Lawrence.
I thought Bothroyd played well and would like to see him start.

We are kidding ourselve sif we seriously think Cresswell won't play. It is going to happen.
Like you have all said- he will give his all for the cause. Sadly, he just is not good enough- especially when stuck in his 'wrong' position.
I pray LL is back for Bristol City!

We will be going to Coventry with the aim of hanging on and containing - there will be no "going for it", this is the man who played 6 defensive players last game of the season when we needed goals.
That means Cresswell
